Umpires who don't know the rules shouldn't be on the field As far as that goes...coaches who cheat their way to a victory shouldn't be there either.

Well.... I am trying to move past it so my blood pressure goes down a little. I am still disgusted by it all. I''m not a coach but suppose Nicholas co coach knew it wasn't a rule and took advantage of the situation...is that ok since it helped him secure a win? Is that how coaches operate nowadays? As long as it helps his team win? Any thoughts? Am I naive to think teams play by the rules?

Sorry...but I disagree. The problem isn't the Class A tournament; the problem is the incompetent officials that the assigning secretary sends to officiate. For my kids who work hard knowing that they have a legit chance of going to small school state tourney, having officials who don't even know the rules is a kick in the teeth. How ridiculous that the umpire puts his arm around a 17 yr old to escort her back to the dugout to explain how she broke a rule that doesn't even exist.....and you know what she interpreted his speech to her as..."I'm not a rookie ump but I'm gonna let this coach cheat and agree with him bc he's yelling really loud so he must b right bc I'm an idiot." Granted that Bracken should have never been it that position to begin with bc of their errors but this play was a game changer and who knows how things would've ended up if the umpires actually knew the rules. The problem has nothing to do with the class A!!:no:

Emma slid and the girl dropped the ball. No contact between the two. Umpires called her safe and Nicholas county coach went bonkers screaming that it was illegal. The umpires conferenced with each other and the coach is still going crazy. Bracken coaches argued it but to no avail. The home plate umpire put his arm around Emma who was also visibly upset and escorted her back to the dugout and all the while explaining that what she did was illegal and it was in the rule book. Glad class a regional means enough for them to send us the very best umpires they have. What a joke.

Even the most talented of pitchers can get hit on the mound. Actually, I'm not really sure what role talent plays. Even the best driver in the world can be involved in a car accident...some things are unavoidable (deer for example), right? I guess, as a parent, I see the mask as a way to avoid unnecessary accidents....for there might be times when things are out of my child's control. A couple of years ago, my oldest took a lined shot close to the chin----she had her mask on and smiled at the coach after it was over---because she was wearing her mask. Outcome would've been a lot different minus the mask....and for the record, she's no slacker player either. All girls are required to wear a mask when they bat, so what's the difference? (well, except for the obvious...one's a rule and one isn't) same distance, right?

We didn't give our daughters a choice. They can make other bad decisions on their own but this was no choice...wear one or don't step on the mound. No sport or game is worth the consequences imo

In all seriousness, I never really thought that 10th region fans boasted really about being the better fastpitch region on here. Did I miss some posts?

I believe Allana's injury was against Paris, wasn't it? Bracken played Paris and St. Pat played Brossart that year. It was at Deming.

MCL Sprain and bone contusions. Emma is out for at least two weeks. As Bracken's luck goes with knee injuries in the Class A tournament, this is great news. Outcome could've been much worse.

Bailey cummins had 22...Cassidy Jefferson and Emma Conley both in double figures though i dont know exact scoring stats. Wills may have been in double figures too

And LAdy Bears got to meet "Turtleman" who just happens to be in the same hotel! Its been an exciting and memorable trip for them. Hope they can bring home another win tomorrow in the finals. Go Lady Bears

Honestly, what do lists matter when the real winner is proven on the field , not in a forum...heck, no need to move the Lady Bears up on your list haha...if you moved us to 4th then Brossart would have to be #1, right? Oh ok SHAM....that makes more sense. The Lady Bears lost games so even though they beat Brossart----head to head----twice----once resulting in a no hitter for Bracken's pitcher---and the other in the regional tourney....Brossart is a more solid team. Yep...that makes perfectly good sense. Thanks for clearing that up SHAM.

What is your reasoning for placing Brossart 4th and Bracken 8th? It surely has nothing to do with what happened on the softball field last season because I don't think anyone would agree with this ranking based upon game performances. Brossart's defense may be good and they may be able to hit, but IMO pitching/catching is 70% of the game and Bracken's stronger in the circle...or was last year. I'm sure Brossart's pitcher is improving as is every other pitcher or player working on her game.
