As always, the 9th Region is up for grabs and multiple teams could win this thing. It will be fun to watch it play out.

From the games I saw each team up close, it would only be a fun game for the Ft. Thomas boys. But who knows.

Beechwood ahead of Highlands?

Proud of the playoff run CovCath went on. One play from back-to-back state championship appearances. Not bad for a team that six weeks ago was labeled "a middle of the road 4A squad".

I’ve seen these reported as the final stats: CC, 67 plays, 319 yards (235 rush, 84 pass), 18 first downs, 1 turnover, 5 penalties (20 yards). FC, 35 plays, 184 yards (127 rush, 57 pass), 7 first downs, 1 turnover, 3 penalties (15 yards).

Congrats to Franklin County on a hard fought win and good luck next week. Felt like CovCath controlled the first half, but only led 3-0 at the break.

Does Franklin County allow tailgating? Any local restaurant recommendations? Is there a cash option for tickets? How’s the parking and gameday traffic?

Moeller was D1 runner up in 93. I’m guessing the 1992 team was very good by Kentucky standards.

That 88 semifinal game was an instant classic. We stopped to get gas in Wurtland and the attendant said he wasn’t expecting much of a game since Ashland had upset Russell the week before. Wow, was he wrong! That was my first time seeing a game at Putnam Stadium, a wonderful high school venue. My memory is getting hazy, but I seem to recall Ashland getting 3 chances at a game winning field goal near the end of regulation. I think there was a delay of game called as the ball was snapped on one try, CovCath jumped offside on the next try, and then finally the missed kick. The best CovCath playoff game (non-finals) game I’ve seen.

Franklin County isn't getting enough credit. They play disciplined defense, have excellent special teams, and average 45 points/game. With the game being in Frankfort, this will be a tough matchup for the Colonels.

Was the 97 regular season matchup the game CovCath missed a field goal at the end of the game that would have won it?

How much of a homefield advantage is there when district opponents 30 minutes apart play?

I believe the 87 Tilghman team was ranked as well by USA Today. Maybe in the South Regional rankings. And most pundits thought that CovCath team would lose to Montgomery County when they played earlier in the playoffs.

I think Great Crossing makes this one a lot closer than the first time around.
