I am responding to what some people from Raceland have told me. Hope they are able to play and not get reinjured, but it don't matter who plays, they will play with that fire and determination, that makes this rivalary, one of the best. Big game for both teams.

At Rowan County the first play from scrimmage set the tone for the rest of the game. Yates(6'1" 240)s crushed Rowan's best running back. Meenach( 6'0 220) playing middle int. for td. He is playing like an animal as well. Be looking for big hits in this big game. Greenup wants it.:madman:

Thanks Cvillecat,we've got a couple dinged up too. Yes I think the ballgame will be won by the team that controls the line of scrimmage, this line was undefeated as freshman and they are all seniors. Our line averages 255 weight average. Also Raceland has a good line cause of coach lewis,he does a good job with it, but it very well could come down to which feild goal kicker, which kicks the best. Big game for both kickers.

Ashland / Boyd County Predictions
Old Warrior replied to lionfan13's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would of never have believed this could of happened, especially, to these two programs, one thing is for certain, one team is going to win, and one team is going to lose. It is going to come down to who wants it more, and both lines are young, let's see whose line grows up, come Friday night. Both teams have good skill players, but it will be won in the trench's, I like Ashland, but Boyd County is capable of winning this game also, flip a coin. -
Denton shoulder, Carver mono, Terry broke ankle, 4 other's hurt, Johnson to Fla. If Spark's is having a big game, then the offense, is not getting in the endzone. I look for Reed to have an impact on the game also.:sssh: :sssh:

Mason County vs. Campbell County
Old Warrior replied to The Mad Stork's topic in KY Football (High School)
I like Mason County, they are very athletic and have alot of overall speed, I also think Russell better keep them in the back of their minds.:sssh: -
24-20 Greenup County. Ithink the kicking game will come into play, fielf position, will be a must, but as always it comes down to blocking and tackling. Also, who controls the line of scrimmage. Also it's their JFL night at Ram stadium. Do you know if the Russian mig will do a flyover the field like last year against NCC?

Greenup coming off a big district win, with 4 new faces, in the lineup, we are not the same team, as we were 2 wks. ago. With a new revamped defense, and a more conservative offense now, this is going to be a dandy, when these 2 teams meet, you can throw their records out the door, it's going to come down to who wants it more, I look for a physical game, and who controls the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball.

Greenup County 34 Rowan County 12

Thanks FBALL, we are finally getting a hold on the new offense, the addition of Mahan, Newberry, Reed, and Evans, has gave us more depth, plus those are good players, Mahan had a inter ception and very nice return to set up a td. His punting is a weapon also, Newberry had 3 sacks and was in alot of tackles. Reed had 6 extra pts. and Evans was in on alot of tackles last night at Rowan County. The line has really stepped up their play and have got alot more physical and together. Question, do you think there should be a county championship, since you have started playing Raceland, or still continue the backyard brawl? -
Lawrence County 29 Boyd County 26
Old Warrior replied to UKBLUE1964's topic in KY Football (High School)
Thank you for giving us some love, I think our team is coming together as a whole now, we have added a few new wrinkles to the team, with a few new players, that did not play against the Devils. A win is just what the doctor ordered. What do you think about this ,since you all play Raceland now, instead of a backyard brawl, having a tri-county championship, where all 3 Greenup County teams play for a championship? Your thoughts please. -

Mahan played very well last night on both sides of the ball, had a nice interception and return last night that set up a touchdown, still learning the offense, playing tightend now and blocking very good, also does a nice job punting the football also, soon as he get's a handle on the offense, watch out. -

Old warrior and tribe will be there, with the rest of the Greenup County nation. But seriously, I can not wait, always good to come up there and play, always a great crowd, and a good football atmosphere. Hope the injured players you have and the one that got injured for us last night are able to play. Also we will get to see a couple of good kickers. -
Greenup got it's first win of the season. Greenup County defense came to play, the line controlled both sides of the ball. Good win boy's.:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Greenup Co. vs Rowan Co Predictions.
Old Warrior replied to Goliath's topic in KY Football (High School)
The boy's have practiced hard this week, we're a little banged up, with some minor injuries, but everyone else is too. I hope we can finally come together as a team and play the way that we are capable of playing. I hope and pray that things get better for the kid's sake, losing is no fun, and that's what football is about, good luck Greenup, and bring back a win from Rowan County. -

Old Warrior replied to Goliath's topic in KY Football (High School)
His name is Crockett Reed, and that 41yd. field goal was plenty long. He had some eligibility problems early on, and has just came back to the team. If we had him for the Letcher County game, we would have won, 5 times in the red zone in the 1st. qtr. and zero pts. -
Cvillecat that was a very good post, we were lucky to get a drink of water, and those two a days, seemed to last 4wks., but really 2wks. It is a wonder no one had heat exhaustion, but I think we were in better shape back then than now, don't remember that many leg cramps either. Is your son still at Cville college?

Who's the hardest hitter on your team?
Old Warrior replied to maroonmadness's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would say Corey Justices our free safety, pound for pound he flies to the ball carrier and delivers the blow, remember it's not how big you are, it's how big you play. He plays for Greenup County. -

Outsider you do see some of the things I posted. We do disagree on some things but you are not there at practice all the time. The head coach told the parent's that we had the personell to run the Tony Franklin offense, the boosters paid a large amount of money for the offense and to send the coaching staff to Nashville Tn. for playbook and CD's and lectures, we ran it this summer and seemed to work fairly well, but you do not know everything that is going on, you are at the tip of the iceberg. -

Curtis Lowe yes we will see you in Ramland on 9/28, it is always a great oppurtunity to come up there and play the Rams, and your head coach does an outstanding job, I can't wait, I promise we will show up and play hard. -

Old Warrior replied to Goliath's topic in KY Football (High School)
Outsider, evidently we disagree on the game, if you would look ar our qbs. stats the past 3 games, the qb has a passing ratio just barely above 50% and his rushing % of 0.972 yds. per carry, and as far as disrespectful actions and comments they were being addressed at the head coach not at any of the players. -
Ashland / Montgomery Co. predictions
Old Warrior replied to happy ol' dad's topic in KY Football (High School)
Ashland is still searching for their 1st win, game is being played at the holy grail, use to Ashland would have a 2 td advantage before you could get off the bus, but I have seen Ashland play, Montgomery Co. is 3-1 and is having some success, I like M. Co. by 10. -
Greenup Co. vs Rowan Co Predictions.
Old Warrior replied to Goliath's topic in KY Football (High School)
I was at the game, and from what I saw, Craft had receivers open waving their arms, and the ball was not delivered, seems like he locks onto a certain receiver, and if not open, he panics, and bad things result, he needs to stay in pocket and go through his reads, yes the line is blocking, but he likes to try to make throws on the run ,and a interception, the team overall needs to come together as a whole, there is no I in team , some of the playcalling at certain times of the game, is mind boggling, coachs and players need to come together as a whole unit and get some respect back, as a team, sure the parents want to see their boys do good and win, but losing leaves a bad taste in your mouth, that starts the qb blaming the line, receivers blame the qb for not getting the ball, the coachs choice of plays, and the fans want to win as badly as the team, and if you ask the head coach whats going on, his answer is "It was a coachs decision" -
Greenup Co. vs Rowan Co Predictions.
Old Warrior replied to Goliath's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think Greenup will come out with a win. There has been some new defensive changes and some personnel changes. Also I think the boys will have a better attitude, since this is their first district game. Also last night the JV beat East Carter 8-0. and it was a very physical game.
