Good point. With Poner, Barnes, and Slavey facing Hester for the last few years probably helped them just as much as putting them in the game. I hope Simon does good I just don't know if they will have enough to make it top this year. Hope they prove me wrong. -Has anyone heard anything about Walton Verona?

You can't forget about McGraw from Highlands. coming back from his injury. He is somethng special to watch. He has worked hard this summer and watch for him to be on top of the 9th.

How good do you think Simon Kenton's perimeter players going to be this year? Ponzer is the only one with minutes in varsity games, and everyone knows how much faster the game is in a varsity game. Will Barnes, and Slavey be able to adjust to the game quick enough?

Simon Kenton Coaching Staff needs to figure out something to get more looks for Ponzer. He is there to go guy on the field at all times, and they need to have more looks to him. I would have to say that Simon improved on all ends of their game last night but the team has a long way to go... I hope next week vs conner will be better!

It looks like Simon Kenton is going to have a long year this year. But Dixie played a solid game. I also agree with NEERFAN. Dixie has the talent and the bodies on the field to make a very good team, they just haven't put it all together yet.

Has any one heard anything about Walton? Heard Payton Ponzer had a a very good summer.

Hargett has her ups and downs. She gets to the rim well, but she just doesn't play D' and it seems like thats her downfall in the game. Walton also played in a turny at Sports of all Sorts, and had a nice week during that time also.

Simon will pull this one out just by a few points. Go Simon!

I agree with Lane being there all around best player,but brandom Maegley seems soft? And Slavey and Barnes? Just seem like they don't have enough varsity mins under their belts yet. I think the team is not like last years or years before, and they wont have the leadership to carry them that far this year.

What do you think the small schools will do this year in the 8th? Will-Town(New coach this year), Grant Co? Carroll? Where will they fall this up and coming season?

I do not mean them in that order. But I still think that the small schools will give the "teams" everyone says that will win it a run for their money.

I caught Walton games at the Elementary School.(Walton El. School) But they played Calvary Christian, Simon Kenton, Boone County, I wanna say Owen County(not sure).

I agree! One hundred percent. Its always simon. and well, they never finish it(never come through at the end of the year). So, this year after graduating everyone pretty much on their team, this year will be a down year. I don't look for them to be as strong as people say or think.

I dont know. Oldham has almsot everyone back. and how good do you think simon kenton post players will be? having hurd and el gone, who will pick up all that missing? Hester leaving too. I think they just lost to much.

I went to a few simon kenton summer games... and some teams matched up with them well this summer. I know its just summer ball and its hard to tell how good a team will be, and yes i agree simon kenton will be on top. But I would bet that a small school to beat them a few times this year.

Yes. If Ponzer was just taller he would be a D-1 player. He was probably the best hands in Northern Kentucky and you can't argue with his speed. It speaks for itself. He would be something to watch if he was just a bit bigger and taller.

I think with or without Tommy, they will do fine. Other people will step up and will make big plays that are needed for Simon to win their games.

Agreed. Ponzer is a special player, and one of the fastest out on the field. I think Simon Kenton will do fine this year, even thought their opener wasn't so hot.

Without him... Ponzer will need to step up even more. I look for big things from him this year now. Most of the throws will be directed to him now.

Everyone seems to doubt Walton Verona, but watching them this summer and watching the other teams in the region, I see Walton being on the top end of the region by the end of the year. Seeing Heeger back in the lineup (out with back injury last season) will help the Ladycats more than you think. With everyone focusing on Hargett, Heeger will have plenty of oppertunities to hit those 3's. Hargett might be an offense threat but thats all she is (No D' to her game). With Heeger playing D' and hitting 3's she might be the best shooter in the region and might send walton to the top.

Walton, Simon Kenton, South Oldham, Shelby County... Best Teams in Region!
