  1. From what I take is that he is saying that Highlands is at a disadvantage for not playing the best teams in the state. It only makes the team and the players better...
  2. So I hear the team I support practiced without pads all week long. After talking to several Ashland fans this last week we really couldnt come up with a valid reason to why this is. I was wondering if I could get some different opinions frm the posters on here...
  3. Now I am a very loyal Ashland fan, but since they didnt practice at all this week in pads that the reason I first went with JC to win but here it is gameday at 430 and I am going to change and go with Ashland 27 JC 14
  4. Russel 24 Raceland 17 Heading to Putnam to tailgate....
  5. Highlands does have smaller enrollment, but they do pull players from the surrounding area due to the history of their program. Isn't Lorenzon from Independence? Didn't he grow up in the SK program? That's just one example. Derek Smith was from Russell if I remember correctly. Moved there, and chose highlands due to their history. Which is no problem imo, I would do the same probably. One thing I will say though is that Bryan Station, who the article uses as comparison will be moving on to 6A next year correct?
  6. I dont think we (Ashland) would be as good of a team if we had 4A district oppenents this year. Playing in the district that we are in has made us a better team. I believe that it has to do with money.
  7. The good thing about tonight's game is the large crowd will be able to see all the action this year. Last year I heard there wasn't enough seating for such a large crowd.
  8. An update on David Bailey: I know his brother very well. He is still out with grade 3 turf toe. Will not be playing tonight, I saw someone stated that he would be, however, I just confirmed the opposite.
  9. I do give Raceland plenty of credit, and after reading my post it seems I came off a little bit to harsh. I enjoy watching the Raceland program grow. It's more based on personal communications out on the town with Raceland supporters, than on here. It seems like most/all pretty much, Raceland supporters want to hinge 50+ years of football history and tradition into one season because Raceland is very good this year, and Ashland and Russell are not what they should/could be. Although Ashland has really picked up their play this season. It just seems from talking to many Raceland fans, if they win tonight, then they are suddenly the best football school in the area. Now I'm not saying any of you Raceland posters feel that way, but you all are a small fraction of the fans, and seem to be more level headed than most I run into. Especially those 30 and under. I am an Ashland supporter btw, but it seems to me that most of the Raceland fans have been pulling and choosing against Russell in every game this year. I have not seen or heard that from any of the Russell fans.
  10. Also, I would like to ask why anyone is even responding to TheBurnOut? He is obviously just trying to inflame the thread.
  11. Ashland is opposite Highlands district. Russell used to be opposite Boyle Co. and Lex Cath. Opposite Belfry now. If Raceland would have played up to 2A they would have had first round games against either of those teams assuming they would have been in Russell's district, so again, they would exit first round. I highly doubt #4 in Beechwood's district has ever been better than Russell or Ashalnd, except maybe the 97 season for Russell or last year for Ashland, and that is still doubtful.
  12. Well after checking yesterday, my friend, got some of the names of the kids that also registered and DOB's, only about 6 more. 3 registered Republican, 2 Democrat, and 1 Independent, all 3 of the Repubs are not listed as registered on https://cdcbp.ky.gov/VICWeb/index.jsp. However, both Dems and the independent are listed. He is going to try and get more names and such just to be sure. However, so far it does not look good, but that small a sample can be misleading, mistakes do happen.
  13. Well hopefully this year Raceland can win their first Regional title. I know you have pride in your school and that is great, but didn't the last team to go undefeated for Raceland lose in the first round of the playoffs? Like I said Raceland has had some really good teams, but they have also had some really really bad ones, Russell and Ashland have had bad years, but 1 about every 20 is about the average for them. Even in down years sometimes Russell or Ashland still make it to a Regional championship game. I think you all will make it to Louisville this year, I hope so anyways. When I see people bragging about tradition, they should do it on a week when they are not going up against Russell. win or lose tonight, it means nothing if Russell wins the next 25 meetings between the teams. Russell has some very very talented players coming up, as does Ashland, I believe area football is going back to where it was 4-10 years ago as far as talent level.
  14. I still say Raceland is heavily favored in this game. Russell's best playmaker is out for the game. For a team with little depth, that is really going to hurt their offensive production. I was checking their site, and Bailey averages nearly 40yds per kickoff return. Thats gonna be a huge difference is starting field position. Also around 45yds per punt, with a long of 69. Thats a big difference in starting field position for Raceland. It would essentially be like Raceland coming in without Carver or Denton, but they also have ST responsibilities.
  15. The Palestinians and other Arab govts in the region need to do more to control their radicals. If they just sit back and let these radicals operate from their country, then Israel has no choice but to consider them enemies and treat them as such. Arabs need to show the world that they are willing to fight radicals, even if it is their neighbor or their brother. They need to show the world they care about the world, if they want the world to care about them. That's my opinion anyways.
  16. The sad thing is both schools are going to get creamed by Highlands, a school half their size and not a private school.
  17. This occured I know for sure at Russell, just found it out. My buddy's brother attends Russell. My buddy was checking to see where they would be voting at, and it came to light that his brother wasn't registered. So he asked him who else he knows registered Republican, and none of them were registred, however, those that registered as Dems on the same day at the same place, are registered to vote. Just found it out last night. I think he plans on doing some more info checking, just to make sure it isn't just a mistake, but it doesn't appear so yet. As kids who registered as Dems are in the system, and none of the kids who put Republican down are, so far that he has checked. I think he plans on atleast writing a letter to the paper. They came in early August when school first started, so time shouldn't be a factor. It should be easier to figure out, becase that early int he school year, there are fewer kids that are actually already 18. So I think his brother is getting some names and birth dates so he can check the Kentucky website.
  18. Local campaigners who work for Lunsford and the DNC, went to area highschools to register voters. They did not turn in those who registered as Republicans, so now kids who thought they were going to be able to vote this election will not be able to. This happened in the Ashland/Russell area.
  19. I listened to that speech, and to me it hit the nail on the head as to why I dislike Obama. For liberals and Obama supporters that should really give you insight to why true conservatives oppose Obama. Not because we're racist or Republican sheep, but because we see something in Obama that gives us doubt, from those he associates with, the constant platitudes he spews, and what him and his colleagues in the DNC stand for and want.
  20. I hear Bailey still won't be healthy enough to play. That basically takes away the big play capability of Russell, recieveing, rushing, and kick returns. Also probably the best punter in the area and maybe the state, with a couple 50+ and one 69 yarder. It also means Raceland will only have to stop Abrams to win. So Raceland should come away with this one.
  21. Lets also not forget to mention that Obama is going to require that Highschools and Middleschools ensure all their students do atleast 50hours of community service a year so that the schools will still qualify for federal money. Obama was quoted in a 1995 Chicago Reader article saying, "individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations." Obama's plan is "voluntary" in a technical sense - nobody gets arrested for opting out. But non-participants also won't be allowed to graduate from high school, and without those diplomas, life could get a bit rough. The plan says: "Schools that require service as part of the educational experience create improved learning environments and serve as resources for their communities. The Obama-Biden plan sets a goal for all students to engage in service, with middle and high school students performing 50 hours of service each year ..." You see, most public schools depend on federal dollars. And, as Obama elaborated in a speech last December, "At the middle and high school level, we'll make federal assistance conditional on school districts developing service programs, and give schools resources to offer new service opportunities." http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/126921
