Congrats to the Tigers!! Didn't think they could win the tourney, but they proved me wrong! The players really hung in there and that proved to me that they have confidence and can make a come back! However, as I have said before, they need to learn how to build on their leads when they get them!! But 5 games in 4 days against some very good teams - you have to give them credit!!

I was at the game and Paintsville looked very much improved but IMO the refs helped them out alot. The basketball by slone at the end of the 3rd i think it was should not have counted. There was 1.3 seconds on the clock and Williams slung a full court pass and then was tipped by 2 apollo players and it fell into slone's hand and he had enough time to do a spin move and hit the basket. The weird thing was the buzzer didnt sound till the shot hit the back board. Late in the fourth I seen a couple of bad calls go Paintsville's way. Not taking anything away from Paintsville though they played a great game against a pretty decent Apollo team.

The Tigers worked their tails off this week, and kudos to them!!!

The past three games might be the best they have played.......including last year's Shelby Valley game!!

Paintsville just got the breaks when they needed them and took advantage of them.

Not sure if you were at the game but I was and the good teams create their own breaks sometimes. Landon pushes the ball up the floor and Pugh, Bundy, Grimm and VanHoose hit some big shots, which were some of the breaks they had to have, to win all 5 games. We shot around 31 ft's and Apollo had 28, so the fouls sound fairly even.

 

As for winning someplace else, don't know but I do like the way the Tigers are playing and Apollo is very good, plus Seneca is one of my favorite teams, with some great guys on their, especially Julian Brown.

Anyone that knows me, knows that if Paintsville didn't deserve this Championship, that I would certainly say so. But, if you saw the games, you would have to agree that they won!! And deserved it!!

The truth is, that Paintsville would have lost to several teams in this tourney, but, the teams they had to play, they matched up with very well, then just out played them.

When Apollo beat Butler, I thought their defense was everywhere!!! Apollo's D and quickness got them to the finals. I was worried how Paintsville was going to play a team that I for one, thought was very good.(one of Butler's coaches, told me that Apollo was the best defensive team they have played) Paintsville was much quicker, and out hustled the Eagles!!! The Tigers were unselfish, and allowed to get into their own flow and just gutted it up!!!

Like it or not, they deserved the wins!!! Not saying they will win their district, let alone the region, but they won a very, very good tourney, if it upsets you, then take comfort in that they will lose a few games this year.

I agree. Paintsville seemed to match up with Apollo really well. But I dont think that they could have handled Oak Ridge, I think it was. I would have liked to have seen the Seneca game because they looked like they had a pretty decent team.

IMO, I didn't think they could match up with Oak Ridge either. Oak ridge is a very athletic and strong team. Although, after #11 went down for the tourney in their third game, they were not as physical. Oak ridge definately had one of the better coaches in the tourney!!

Oak Ridge did have a great team. #22 and #14 were amazing. I think that #3 was only a sophmore! He was about 6'5 or 6'6. Losing #11 hurt them big time though. Like you said Sidelines, they do have a great coach.
