I hope Pouncy is ok looks like he took a shot in the face and left the game late in the 1st half.

Stats? And prayers go out to E, he is a great kid.

He ended up with a concussion and a chipped tooth. Other than that he is completely fine...

Birds down 27-16 put together a 15-2 run to lead at Halftime 31-29.

Scott comes out and takes advantage of a couple missed open looks that should have gone down for Highlands and they bury a couple 3's. They jump ahead by 7 but the Birds come storming back to tie it at 42 on 2 FT's from Bailey Witte. After he converted his 2nd FT to tie it with 2:30 left in the 3rd they subbed in for him as well as 2 other starters. From that point on the Birds couldnt score, in fact they didnt score the rest of the qtr or the first 1:30 into the 4th. Over 4 minutes without a point will kill any team. Nick Jackson picked up his 4th foul with 3 min left in the 3rd and didnt foul out of the game, that was glaring as well.

I think the final 10 points Scott had were all FT's. They didnt shoot too well from the line the entire game until the last 2 minutes where they seemed to bury all of them when Highlands had to foul. Credit the Eagles for making their FT's to seal it. Also credit the Jehn kid who came in for Pouncy and buried 3 treys in the 2nd half for Scott. Another game that Highlands should have won IMO.

Sorry to hear that, he made a strong move to the basket and the ball was stripped but obviously there was contact for him to get a concussion/chipped tooth. Hope he recovers quickly and is cleared to play in Districts for the Eagles.

Scott was easily the more talented team and shot themselves in the foot with silly turnovers. I would say it was closer to Scott winning by 20 rather than Highlands winning if we go with what should have happened. But as it was it was neither and the better team won by 8 points in a hard fought game.

I disagree, Scott had a few silly turnovers but Highlands had their fair share of turnovers (travels/trying to throw over top of two defenders) as well as countless layups missed. The 3 pt shooting early in the 2nd half and the FT's in the end won the game for the Eagles. It was not their overhelming better talent that is for sure. They won by 8 points and the Crim kid gets 8 points. Has he scored 8 points the entire season?

Eagles deserved to win the game but I thought personally it was a winnable game for the Birds that they allowed to get away.

Crim averages about 4 pts a game. His minutes have increased over the past two weeks.

Crim averages 3.5 ppg, great game by Josh Castleman who averages 2.4 ppg.

Castleman had a nice game, he had a couple steals for layups. He brings a lot of energy to the Scott lineup.

Jehn's treys were huge for Scott, not bad for a JV kid to come in and fill in for Pouncy.

I agree with 'I gotta go to work', I felt Scott could have easily blown this thing open. Highlands didn't face Scott's best effort tonight tonight and I really believe the score could have been much worse for the bluebirds. To Highlands credit, Scott had to battle for the win and nothing came easy. I think there were several factors that contributed; Pouncy taking the hardest non-foul hit I have seen in sometime (sustains concusion, chipped tooth on a drive to the basket and no foul called?) resulting in him missing most of the game, Daugherty on the sideline nursing a bad ankle, Nick Jackson in foul trouble (picking up 4th at end of 3rd qtr), Buckner not having one of his better nights. Felts was the only normal starter that had a decent game but not contributing a lot of points. Scott's bench was huge but you saw a lot of youthful mistakes. Crim is a good player and will be a better player as he gains experience. Pouncy's replacement struggeled with shot selection but did drive the ball hard to the basket. Several Scott players contributed off the bench including Meyers and Jehn. Big minutes from both of them.

I guess this shows that Scott battled through a lot of adversity this game and its great to see kids step up when they are needed. Scott is peaking at the right time and when we have our normal starters clicking they can beat anyone we have seen this season.

18,18, and 20, are pretty big#s to give up in quarters. Looks like the D let HHS down, just by the #s.

The D was bad in the 1st Qtr and Scott drilled 4 treys during the3rd qtr. The fourth was attributed to having to fouls stopping the Clock. I bet 14 of the 20 were FT's. The effort on defense needs to improve though as sevetal times Jackson caught and scored in the lane with not much resistance, especially in the First half. This was when Highlands was in a zone.

The game was broadcast on Insight Channel 22 public access. Im not sure when it airs though.
