Some of your responses to this are upsetting to me. THE Mother made a nutritious lunch. No matter what government program she was in, she was doing the right thing. Someone comes along and derides what she did. That is just plain wrong.

Technically couldn't the mother file charges against the school? They stole her child's lunch.

According to the linked articles they didn't. They just offered the kid more food in addition to her lunch. This is also part of a special-needs program the mother applied for, so I don't think she would have much of a case anyway.

If that's the case, then they did nothing wrong. I had thought the original post said they took the lunch and replaced it.
