gold sunrise
Found this article and found it interesting. Wish other region would post something similar. With just 1 1/2 weeks left in the regular season, pairings for the district tournaments (starting Feb. 20) will be rolling in on a daily basis. A few of the district pairings already have been decided, and the rest will become clear by the end of the week. Here’s how the Louisville-area districts shape up on the boys’ side: http://blogs.courier-journal.com/khs/2012/02/08/breaking-down-district-races-boys-edition/

5wide
Oldham Co. vs. North Oldham could be an interesting first round district matchup.
PAPA PIGSKIN
The 8th region favorite has to be Collins now with the 2 transfers last week doesnt it? Collins added a set of brothers from Detroit that are 6'4" and 6'6". I also hear this could be causing an uproar in the 8th region pretty soon? 5wide
They got two transfers this late in the season that will be eligible to play? Also, I wouldn't say that makes them a favorite. Adding two players at tournament time allows no time to adjust or develop chemistry. It could work out, but I think the odds are just as good that the team struggles to play with any cohesion and can't win the region.
PAPA PIGSKIN
Yep. They moved in 1 week and were playing that next Friday. I believe 1 if not both of them have scored double figures in both games theyve played. Both wins for Collins also. The hearsay is that they completed their seasons in Detroit and then dad got transferred here. Thats the part that I dont understand about their being eligible. FarBeyondDriven
If it is a legit move, then it should not be a big deal.
PAPA PIGSKIN
It is a legit move. Father was transferred from Ford. My question about it is if a student athlete completes a season in one state(their team lost in post-season), can they move to another state and participate in that same sport? Ranger
Two players coming in this late in the year can do absolutely nothing good for team chemistry. I'm sure it can be managed but I can't think of challenges much bigger for a coaching staff. Maybe you don't need chemistry if you can just throw the two kids out there and let them go but there is sure a lot that a team goes through ranging from summer workouts, scrimmages, fund raisers, preseason conditioning and the battle scars of a long season. Maybe it works out for them but wow, that has to be tough on a team.
vicki@vickiturner.com
What grade are the brothers from Detroit? There should be some rule about being added to the roster this late in the season. Not fair to to their opponents who haven't gotten to scout them and kinda messes up seeding of the tourney. Definately not fair to the boys who will lose playing time to the late additions. These boys from Detroit have had their season and the players from Collins should have theirs too. I would be ashamed to do this to my team if I was the coach.
AloneAndInsane13
This just blows my mind. I am curious how the brothers' teammates are taking it...I can't imagine that this has gone over well with the parents and players, especially to the 2 players who they have replaced. It just seems disrespectful to all of players that have been with the coach this season through the good and the bad. To me, it would lessen the value of any win in post season to with the addition of the 2 extra players at the end of the season. If I were the coach, I think I would allow the 2 boys to attend practices and games to get comfortable with the team and get to know their teammates, but now allow them to suit up until summer open gyms. SEND-IT-IN
Regardless who Collins added Oldham is still the favorite in the Region. They have good guard play, good bigs, and most importantly they have Great team chemistry! Their players deed off one another and you can see that developing on the floor as their games progress. IMO their toughest post season game will be NO in the 1st round of the district. As far as the other teams in the region, Collins is the only other team that matches up well against Oldham. That being said, I think Collins lacks leadership and chemistry. SK has been playing very well, but they don't match up well against either of these two teams. However, they still have to play the game, and anyone can lose on any given night.
