I haven't seen the numbers to really know. But, I do know that they are a powerful group and one that has caused Romney and McCain to change their stances on issues. It's hard to win the GOP nomination in today's Republican Party without pandering to them. Anyone who says different isn't being real with themselves.

See gay marriage caused him to not buy into the sanctity of marriage..... It's ruining our country lol. As a conservative it's really not an issue for me but if I had to take a stance I'm all for the voters of each state voting on whether or not they allow it.

Honestly if this ranks near the top of issues for any voter and it's not as an advocate for legalizing gay marriage then that person really needs to take a step back and evaluate their values and priorities.

I don't have an issue with his divorces. They're none of my business and drum my perspective do not impact his ability to do his job. I do have an issue with someone claiming to be concerned with protecting the sanctity if marriage while exhibiting behavior I feel is equally abhorrent. It makes me question the candidate's ability to judge social issues objectively.

I rank it as a Sin and goes against God's plan for humans. In fact the word marriage and same sex doen't fit, its like calling a soft drink a hm sandwich. Just doesn't fit in Webster book. Or Gods.

 

I have some verses I'll share if anyone wants to see them. The Bible is our guide and I can show you verses about Mitt's taxes and religion too. Also Newt's divorces can be found in the Bible.

 

We cannot pick and choose verses we like or fits what we want ot don't want.

I like to think I'm as conservative as they come & I oppose same-sex marriage. But I'm voting for Chris Christie when he runs for President.

How can someone take pride in saying "I like to think I'm as conservative as they come" (or "I'm the most conservative person alive", etc.) To me, that seems egotistical and, quite frankly, ignorant.

Nothing egotistical intended, but rather an honest analysis of my political and/or social leanings. I do stand behind my conservatism, but that statement was not intended to be a puff out my chest moment.

 

This is egotistical: I am very intelligent & the furthest thing from ignorant. And I'm fairly confident I don't need someone carrying the moniker Colonel Crazy to accuse me as such.

I did not intend to be accusatory or offensive. I am just turned off by the entire political scene and have found individuals who are more concerned about their political affiliations than their actual beliefs to be the most frustrating.

Over time I just became less socially conservative and lacking faith in the political system more and more. I guess that's what a degree in Political Science results in; a realization that even if the system were perfect the voters never will be.

I am more conservative on social issues than most, yet I'm less loyal to the Republican party than I've ever been.
