January 23, 201214 yr Not necessarily. There was a glut of first basemen/DHs this offseason. What does the list look like for Votto's FA year? Some teams as of now that would make sense... Cubs, Toronto maybe, Nationals if they don't get Prince, and Giants.
January 23, 201214 yr Any NL team who gives Prince more than 5 years are idiots! Henry is outta Chicago so no way he ends up a Cub on a 6-10 year deal. I'd rather the Cubs wait since they're gonna suck this year anyway and go after Votto next year.

January 23, 201214 yr Not necessarily. There was a glut of first basemen/DHs this offseason. What does the list look like for Votto's FA year? Which can drive Votto's price tag down. With so many 1B signing big contracts in the past 3-4 years not very many of the big market teams will have a need for 1B. If that's the case, his market may not be near what it appears it'll be, and the Reds could stand a chance. I think I read somewhere that Walt was expecting to make a run at signing Joey long-term either this season or next offseason.
January 23, 201214 yr Votto is a Red next year... With your absolute statements, why do we even bother speculating on things such as the Super Bowl or MLB free agents. Can you go ahead and give me this years Derby tri-fecta all knowing one?

January 23, 201214 yr I thought I heard somewhere that the Cubs were out. Or maybe those were the voices in my head again. Didn't the Cubs sign Anthony Rizzo? Why would they need another 1st baseman?
January 23, 201214 yr For some reason, I have a feeling Milwaukee is going to step up to the plate & re-sign Prince. Not sure why or how, just a gut feeling.
January 24, 201214 yr      I'd still like the Derby winner if you have em. Hansen (Turfway's finest)

January 24, 201214 yr Didn't the Cubs sign Anthony Rizzo? Why would they need another 1st baseman? Yea, but he played like 40 something games and batted like .140. Granted he's like a top 1B prospect, but he's just that, a prospect.
