Holy Cross is going to be very tough to beat. They play an aggressive full court pressing style; they go 10 players deep and everyone can score; and they have 6'8" Tony Campbell on the back of their press so they can can take risks and know that you can't score on layups even if you beat the press because Campbell will block it. He is a very good shot blocker, big body, and he can hit the three. It will take a very good team playing at the top of their game to beat Holy Cross.

I'll take Monroe County. I watched them about three games during the Lex Cath tourney and I didn't realize they were an A school. Very good shooting team and one of the better posts that I saw at the tourney. Too bad they match-up with WV in second round.

 

Sounds like your describing WV, shoot well and very good post player(s). If what you say about MC is correct, then I'm looking forward even more to that matchup. Let's hope both survive the first round.

Oh, I got a laugh out of it myself as well as the follow up posts. I moved the post to the boys thread where it belongs.

My school, Owsley County, won our region for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. They have a tough game with Newport Central Catholic first day. They're rated 30+ points better than the Lady Owls. Owsley has 5'10 guard Peyton Wright who is averaging around 27 ppg, but the last time we were in the tournament (2010) Walton Verona made it very difficult for her with double teams. I suppose NCC will do the same.

The possible 2nd Round match-up between Monroe County and Walton Verona should be a great game if both teams play to their capabilities. Even though I'd like to see Walton Verona win it all, I'll take Monroe County to win that game and win the tournament. I don't know why, I'm just going with my gut feelings.

Absolutely not, missed key word though, the word "both". I certainly don't want to discount any team that wins their region but WV should win by as many as they want against KCD.
