You're assuming the officials even knew the score at that point. I'm sure they were concentrating on what was important - the action on the floor - and didn't care about the score.

 

When you're going to potentially decide a game with your call, you're not going to do that on a marginal foul (meaning that it may or may not be a foul at ANY point in the game...it needs to be a no brainer.

Just tired of people always complaining about fouls at the end of the game costing them the game. Not saying YOU said that. Just a general statement. Oh, also, really man, I know I have seen more basketball games than most everyone out there, know more officials than most everyone out there, and have officiated more high basketbal games than anyone out there and am still a registered official working basketball games. So don't begin to tell me to know or learn more about when calls should be ignored or made. I said IF a foul is a foul it is a foul at the end of the game the same as it is in the second quarter. "When" the call is made has no bearing on the call, and if the call "decides" the game so be it. Ask any official worth their salt and they will agree with that satement.

 

I agree, the other night in the Highlands/Newport game the refs were letting a lot go during the game knowing There was going to be physical play by the Birds and a lot of contact by Newport due to their quickness, slapping at the ball. Both teams still reached double bonus in the 4th qtr. With 6 seconds left the Birds got two shots off inside the lane which would have been the go ahead basket and on both shots There was contact but truly not enough to call. Why? Because They didn't call fouls like that throughout the game and probably shouldn't have at that point either. I think the referees just got together and said with the style both teams play if we call it Tight we may be here til midnight and both teams will run out of players. I'm fine with that consistency.
