I haven't seen a 14th Region top to bottom rating since the first of the season and I know some have definetly changed their minds a month into the season. So lets agree and disagree with each other and get it started:

1) Perry County Central (the team to beat for now)

2) Leslie County (pre-ranked #1 and are starting to play well)

3) Knott County Central (playing well but had disappointing loss to LCC)

4) Lee County (Huge winning streak, there IS more than one Bobcat team in

the 14th region)

5) Jackson City (You all know they're my favorite team. Playing well, not

made much noise yet, will be tested today at Hazard)

6) Hazard (Slow start but are hard to beat anytime, lost to PCC by only 2)

7) Letcher Central (Has beaten KCC but have looked slow and sluggish at

times. Will still be hard to beat come years end)

8) Estill County (Has one of the best bigmen in the region, this team is not

to be overlooked as I did in another poll)

9) Cordia (Hard playing ballclub that can beat anyone in the 14th on a good

night)

10) Buckhorn (Quick and dangerous team that could also compete with

anyone on a good night)

11) June Buchanan (Couple of good young players, keyword there young,

couple years away from making noise)

12) Wolfe County (Has #1 player in region but the buck stops there, until

Stamper gets back maybe, but for now Wolves #12)

13) Owsley County (Has a great player in Neeley, but much like Wolfe, Robert

Smith will help but for now the Owls have Lucky 13)

14) Powell County (Disappointing season for the Pirates and doesn't look any

brighter in the future, atleast not this year)

15) Breathitt County (I hate to put the Bobcats here but at 1-8 and a big

loss to Hazard, 20 to Cordia, and 18 to Buckhorn at

home, I have to. Although I think they will move up)

Lookout in the 2007 season)

16) Jenkins (Been blowed out a couple times by average teams the Cavs will

have a hard time competing with mid region teams this year)

17) Riverside (Although better than before, the Rams small selection of

players hurt them, but I am glad to see them doing a whole lot

better. Tommy Miller is a really great influence for these kids)

I think the one team you may be underestimating a little is Buckhorn. Their only loss has been a one point decision to Louisville Holy Cross. They also own a 13 point win at Breathitt (although Breathitt is down this year, a 13 point win in the Colusium is impressive), a 17 point point win over Owsley County, and a win at Oneida Baptist, which is never an easy task.

The Wildcats have veteran players, good guards, and a big front court.

Honestly, I don't see very much difference between Jackson City and Buckhorn. In a game between those two I would give the advantage to whichever team was playing at home that night.

And Estll County is a very dangerous team. They have played a very difficult schedule so far this season.....a 3 point loss to Dunbar, a 22 point loss to Clark County in a game that was much closer than the final score, a 3 point and 9 point loss to Lee County (in a game not decided until the final minutes), and a 2 point loss at Johnson Central. Right now 8 is about right for them.

Owsley County and Wolfe County will no doubt get better when Smith and Stamper become eligible, and probably will move up the ladder later in the year, but how much better is yet to be seen.

And Owsley's schedule doesn't get any easier. They have remaining games with Jackson City, Lee, Estill, Breathitt, Leslie County (twice), Knott Central, Letcher Central, South Floyd, Buckhorn, Cordia, and Hazard, plus June Buchanan in the All A. They've already played at Perry Central, Estill, Buckhor and Eliott County. WHEW!! Hopefully this type of schedule will make them better by district tournament time.

Do you stll keep Hazard at #6 after last night?

I don't think they can beat Estill County or Letcher Central, do you? Both of those teams would have to move in front of Hazard.

Evidently you have Jackson City about right.

I still think Lee County is around # 2. Perry Central lost by double digits to Bell County last night at Corbin, and Lee beat Bell by 9 in Johnson County's tournament. I know it's not smart to compare scores, but since Lee lost their first two games they have won some impressive games....they're on a roll.

The region is tough to pick now but I do agree with you completely. After this week here's how I see it:

1) PCC (only becasue they beat Leslie)

2) Leslie County (playing great ball right now)

3) Lee County (moved into mountain top 10 @ #8)

4) KCC (will play Jackson City Jan 5th, we'll see if they hold this position)

5) Jackson City (Great game against Summerville SC)

6) Estill County

7) Letcher Central

8) Hazard

9) JBS (couple of impressive wins lately)

10) Buckhorn

11) Cordia

12) Wolfe County

13) Powell County (held their own against Clay County)

14) Owsley County

15) Breathitt County (both Breathitt and Jenkins could move up)

16) Jenkins

17) Riverside

Actually, I'm now starting to wonder about Letcher Central. They played in the Ashland Invitational Tournament this week and got drilled in three straight games. I think they're now on a four game losing streak. One of the posters from the 16th region said in another thread that LCC was the weakest team in the AIT.

Switch Letcher and Knott. Switch Powell and Breathitt and I think you are right on for this time of the year. :thumb:

Could agree on Breathitt and Powell, that one could be hard to pick. I was going on how close Powell played Clay. I would have done the same for Breathitt playing LCC close, but LCC was not what I expected. Not putting them down, but with all the talk I was looking for a Powerhouse!

sounds pretty good to me but I think with the way they are laying right now Lee might just be the number 1 or 2 team in the region, but we will have to see

Yes, Lee is pretty tough. Actually the top 5 or 6 could catch fire (Lee already has) and make a case for #1.
