Zambrano to the Marlins?

Funny, but no one griped about Zambrano's attitude when he was the Cubs' workhorse. I wasn't ready to give up on him, but dumping that much salary isn't a bad thing.

They're only dumping about $3 million.

The Marlins have a potentially toxic clubhouse now with Zambrano, Ramirez and Guillen.

But, they will have to pay Volstad somehow. I bet he gets around $2.5M in arbitration. So at best they save $500,000. I'd hardly call that a salary dump.

As of now barring any moves here is the new team:

C John Buck

1B Gaby Sanchez

2B Omar Infante

3B Hanley Ramirez

SS Jose Reyes

LF Logan Morrison

CF Emilio Bonifacio

RF Mike Stanton

B Greg Dobbs

B Donnie Murphy

B Chris Coghlan

B Bryan Petersen

B Brett Hayes

SP Josh Johnson

SP Mark Buerhle

SP Ricky Nolasco

SP Anibal Sanchez

SP Carlos Zambrano

RP Heath Bell

RP Edward Mujica

RP Randy Choate

RP Ryan Webb

RP Mike Dunn

RP Steve Cishek

RP Jose Ceda

With the future of the player formerly known as Leo Nunez still up in the air.

I think I can live with the potential for toxicity

The Marlins should be the front-runners to appear on Showtime's The Franchise.

Getting rid of a team cancer can sometimes be priceless. Volstad will at least be under team control for a few years. Z was gone after this year, so we at least got someone to throw the ball while we rebuild.

When he was winning, the attitude showing was less frequent. Now that he's lost some of his stuff, he's lost more of his mind. Good riddance.

Didn't see that at first ... I don't like the deal, paying $15 million for a slot that is now Volstad.
