blueblood
HHS came back strong after a close one to Boone County. They won by 36 early today against a small Gallatin County team and then posted a 25 point victory over the home team at Carroll County. Jeff Vories had an awesome tourney. He had 28 points in the championship game, 28 points one other day as well. He was MVP. Tanner Johnson and Ben Guidugli and Nic Simpson were all on the all tournament team. HHS got great play from Chad Hudepohl, Greg McGraw, and Michael Eaton as well. Greg and Chad took turns in the starting spot in the absence of Michael Smith. I think HHS played every player but Smith on their long roster the last two games. Greg Eaton saw limited time in the last two games after he took a blow to the mouth and bit through his lip. They had a few lapses in today's games but for the most part looked really strong. Defense was a key. Johnson took a lot of charges, Guidugli was on fire from the three in the first game today. Great weekend for the Birds! Now rest up and have a great Holiday before you take on powerful Elizabethtown next week in the Marion County tournament. 8-0 - What a difference a year makes

cshs81
We're 8 games into the season . Do we have any idea of how HHS will fare this season? IMO we can tell nothing from the first 8 games.
BGGreen
Good start for the 'Birds, but actually looking at this field, I'm surprized they were even tested in this tourney--Not much of a tourney!! I do think they are very much improved and will test the top teams in the 9th, especially if CCH and Holmes struggle against physical teams like they did against Elder and Pendleton. PASSER
The Birds are looking very strong this season. You have to remember they did not have a senior on the roster last season and were still district champs!! The seniors of Vories,Johnson,Guidugli,Smith,Eaton and Hudepohl are very athletic kids and will give it all every night. Good luck to Willie and the boys next week............................. Sandman
This may be the most underwhelming schedule Highlands has played in 25 years. Once upon a time, they played with the big dogs. But, hey great win against Gallatin. And that win over Carroll was huge, or not.
True Blue
Etown should be a different kind of test.
olive oil
In response to the light schedule for the Bluebirds, all 8 of their games so far have been away games. Coming up in the next several weeks they play 8 teams that are ranked now in the top 20 including Elizabethtown, Lafayette, Brian Station, Cov Cath, Holmes, Pendleton County and Shelby County. They could also play University Heights if they defeat E-town. Also Highlands has away cames with NCC, Holy Cross and North Oldham. Home games include, Dixie, Ryle and Brossart. Hardly a light schedule. Even though they could struggle in some of the games, this will only make them better by tournament time.
DMZ76
'Birds off to a flying start...GOOD FOR THEM ! They have certainly taken some lumps in the past few seasons but look to have the makings of a team that can contend...FINALLY. There's no reason that HHS should not be in the mix for a regional crown EVERY season. Except for program mis-management...but I digress. Willie's got the ship righted and sailing strong. Keep the "feeder system" interested and HHS will be there every year.
