Are there that many scheduled Sunday games on the varsity level? I know the Class A State Finals are on a Sunday, but other than that I cant think of that many. Someone posted earlier about not giving kids the opportunities others have to play. I'm just not seeing what you're missing.

 

My opinion is absolutely no play on Sunday, and I'd rather not have my kids practice those days either. Sometimes it's unavoidable.

My problem with the Sunday no play rule in Boone County is that the players are excepted to show up to practice and to play games on the nights when school is called off for snow and that includes when we get only an inch or two!

 

If your going to be (and by the way Boone County is not even close to being one of the "most conservative counties in the state" VOR) so tough on Sunday play, then why allow play/practice on day's when school is called off?

Very simple...Sundays and weekday snow days are not the same thing.

I think it's a good and bad rule. It's bad since girls schools have to have 40% of their games on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday to even out the "prime time" with boys due to Title 9. With 30 games being the max, they are now jamming games in to do this since Sunday has all but been ruled out for several schools.

 

It's good so that they get that day off of school and basketball to relax and be high school kids.

 

KHSAA needs to do something about how games are scheduled so that girls teams can schedule games when they want. As long as the Friday, Saturday options are available, it shouldn't be mandatory. If fans are going to come to a game, they are going to come. It doesn't matter if it's a Tuesday or Saturday.

You bring this up every year and it is the same response from most: Extra-curricular's are not mandatory nor is the transportation provided.

I have no problem with each school having their own policy as long as games/practices, etc. are the same. A local little league I worked with years ago had a strict no games on Sunday policy, but when you would drive past the fields they would all be full with teams practicing.

Why is it there to begin with the policy should be changed i will bet highlands Notre dame or new cath don't have it maybe need to just vote out the board what would happen if a game is canceled and had to be played on sun that's right let the other team have it good policy
