I agree with Clyde; give everyone a day of rest. I wish it was a KHSAA policy. I do have to disagree that Boone is one of the most conservative counties in the state. Where I live Wednesday night games are a frowned upon rarity due to Wednesday night prayer meeting.

Apparently you didn't read the post carefully, I said I agree with the down day but it is important that these kids play in tournaments and i disagree that they play too many games. 20 games and 2 tournaments is not too many. If you cram those games to 3-4 a week that is too much but 2 games a week for 10 weeks is not too many.

Yes I said 2 passes so not to abuse the allowance of Sunday games. And what do you mean by "If these were the only games they played I would agree. They're not." Why would it not be important to participate in the state tournament? What do you have against the middle school programs?

How in the world do you make that jump? I was involved in a very strong middle school team for about 4 years.

So none of the kids in Boone County play AAU? None?

 

You haven't answered what the harm to the kids will be (and it's not lack of exposure and experience) if they cannot play in a state tourney due to the Sunday rule.

Never said there would be harm for not playing in the tournament... your statement was "so what", not what would the harm be for not playing. What does AAU ball have to to with this? We are talking about school basketball. What parents put there children in outside of school ball has nothing to do with this policy or my post.

So we agree there would be no harm, correct? So what's the issue? Just don't play on Sundays.

 

We disagree on your last point. You can't stick your head in the sand as a school. You have to realize these kids are playing so many games already that someone has to be the adult and say "not our school on Sunday." Simple to me.

I suppose that would be correct we agree no harm in not playing. I guess we will have to agree to disagree with not having at least one or two options to play in tournaments even if they spill into sunday as a school team. You can make the same statement about AAU and High school. As for the statement "someone has to be the adult" I beleive this should not fall solely on schools but the parents need to police the majority of this.

Not a big fan of playing on Sunday. Our district allows it, but I can only think of one or two occasions in the last 4-5 years when a team played on a Sunday. Practicing on Sunday, particularly if the team plays on Monday, is not nearly as rare.
