Keep in mind, CCS is the 22nd highest paid coach in the land. If U of L can keep this momentum going, he stands to move up that ladder in bonus alone. That said, maybe, just maybe he'll realize that the promised land is more easily obtained here, than in the most brutal conference ever assembled. If he can keep landing SEC caliber recruits, I think he stays. Nothing like being a mid level SEC team, in a cake walk conference.

When is Florida going to be available again? 4+ years? He'll have a BCS win by then. Maybe two. Maybe none. We'll have to see. Like I said, maybe winning another BCS bowl is completing the job. Maybe leaving the program in great shape, is completing the job. He has an agenda, I feel he'll see it through. He is in an amazing spot right now. I relish the fact, that he's Louisville's coach. Hopefully, as fans, we can get 5-7 out of him.

1. Naive.

2. You said that he won't leave as long as he thinks there is still work to do. You can't make that blanket statement.

Nobody knows if he'll leave. That is always a real possibility for any school, but especially schools like U of L.

 

Of course, the possibility of him leaving is based on the assumption that he succeeds at a high level. As a U of L fan, I'd be happy with that. All you can do is hope the guy does a great job and let the chips fall.

 

If a coach says anything, he has to say that he's committed to his current school. He may as well stay home during recruiting season if he comes out and says, "I hope to win a conference championship and then turn that into a bigger job."

 

I don't think there's any good way to handle the situation. You can't say you're leaving until you know for sure and you can't undermine yourself by saying anything other than the party line until then, because if the deal falls through, where does that leave you at your current school?

 

Strong said what was necessary. I think he'll be around for 2-3 more years at a minimum. Then we'll see how he's done and what jobs are available.

Maybe he'll stay. I don't know about all that, nor what "his work" at U of L will be.

 

It could be:

 

1. Improve the program, leave it better than you found it - In that scenario, he's free to leave now.

2. Win the Big East, play in a BCS Bowl - Could happen as early as next year.

3. Win a BCS Bowl - Same as above.

4. Win a National Championship - Unknown.

 

 

That statement leaves a lot of wiggle room, which is why I'd say it was a wise choice of words.
