Does it matter whether Alabama "had their shot"? If the end game of the system is to pit the two best teams against each other at the end of the season, then somebody already "getting their shot" is irrelevant.

 

I think it's less about who had their shot than it is about crowning a champion. Obviously, I've been critical of the decision to put Alabama in the title game and I've repeatedly said they "had their shot," but I mean that more from the perspective of LSU. They've beat Alabama, won the SEC. They are indisputably the number one team and deserving of the title game. They haven't beaten OK St., or anyone from the Big-12 for that matter. Let LSU prove they are the best in the country by facing them and split hairs over who had the second best team or whose "loss was better" after the bowl games. I think overall resumes and winning your conference should take precedence over whose "loss was better," because at the end of the day they are still losses.
