December 6, 201114 yr As someone who made solid grades and stayed up all night, I can assure anyone it was swimming against the current. I'm probably lucky I could nap through first period without the teacher noticing. Aha! So sleep DID have something to do with it!
December 6, 201114 yr And how exactly do these studies measure a student's effort, determination, and dedication? By law of average. One study grouped students simply by their sleeping habits. They made the assumption that some in each group with be really determined while some not so much. That same group would have some smart kids. Some not so smart. They assumed some would be upper-middle class. Some lower-middle class. In other words they assumed that all other factors between the groups would be random which is how many studies operate. The variable they keyed on was sleep. The group that would have included you fared worse than those who slept mor hours AND went to bed earlier. Pretty straight forward.
