November 22, 201114 yr There's a downside to global education? According to some of the parents I encounter, yes. I know a few that are mad that my school requires one year of foreign language. It seems that it is un-American to know anything about countries outside of the US, other than ones we've kicked the tail ends of. Let's not even begin to talk about anyone claiming to be an American that doesn't speak English 100% of the time. :lol: What's funny about the family that I am referring to is that their dad somehow got out of serving in Vietnam. My dad, on the other hand, is fluent in both Spanish and English and served in the Army prior to and during Vietnam - 2 tours. I doubt anyone who knows my dad would call him un-American. Those that hear him speak Spanish might, though. Sorry, Clyde...didn't mean to sidetrack. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

November 23, 201114 yr What should we take from it? Our media need to do a better job of getting the message across and viewers of certain programs need to do a better job of paying attention. People who listen rather than watch take in information better. People who read rather than watch do as well.

November 23, 201114 yr I'd rather listen to NPR over watching Fox/CNN. Its no better than either of them.
November 23, 201114 yr I try to get most of my news from reading it. Mostly from local paper or Drudge Report.
