-14 teams were ranked at least once, about 61% of the teams that were eligible.

 

-7 schools were ranked on every ballot

-Warren Central and Christian County were the only two schools to be ranked second on a ballot, with Warren Central receiving that vote 43 times and Christian County 14 times.

-14 teams were ranked at least once, about 54% of the teams that were eligible.

 

-6 schools were ranked on every ballot

-None of those six schools was ever rated lower than 9th, and that occurred on less than 1% of the ballots (four votes for Murray to be 9th)

 

-Mayfield received all but five first place votes. The remainder went to Owensboro Catholic.

 

-Trigg County had the highest ranking on a ballot by a school that also was not rated in the top 10 on a ballot at some point, being ranked fourth on three ballots.

 

The cumulative rankings for the year (that is the sum of every week) were:

-There were very clear tiers in the ranks. Mayfield was an unapproachable #1. Owensboro Catholic and Paducah Tilghman were in the 2/3 tier. Fort Campbell and Edmonson County traded back 4/5. Then there were clear drop offs at the next few ranks.

Judging by the ranks in both Week 11 and in the cumulative, the best matchups in the first round are:

 

-Small School #8 Trigg County at #7 Monroe County

-Small School #11 Butler County at #10 Caldwell County (Caldwell was #9 in the cumulative)

-Big Schools Owensboro at #9 Warren East (Owensboro was #11 in the cumulative, Warren East was #10)

-Big Schools #9 Graves County at #2 Warren Central

 

 

Comparing to the BGP rankings among others, it looks like we've got two strong chances for state champions in the Region 1 Rankings (Mayfield in 1A, Bowling Green in 5A), with a possible chance with Owensboro Catholic in 2A. How many state titles do you all see from our group?

I think Tilghman has a great shot in 3a.. They have the speed to match up well with Central and have proven the last couple of years that they can play right with them, plus they would have home field advantage and you never know how a team that rarely leaves the Ville will handle a 3 1/2 to 4 hr drive.. I also think they possess the speed and size to give Bell Co alot of problems, should they happen to meet up..

 

WCentral also has a shot.. BG will definately be the favorite, but, WC traditionally plays the Purples tough and if BG does lose, I think it'll be by a team that's very familiar with them and it's always tough to beat a good team twice in the same season..

 

OB Catholic appears to be improved from last year and I don't think NCC is as talented as last year, so, they also have a decent shot. There are, however, several tough bumps in the road they'll have to go through to get there, most notably Glasgow, but, even Murray in the regional finals would be a very tough matchup, especially at Murray..

 

I think FSimpson, Lone Oak and Madisonville all have a great shot at getting to the finals, but, I wouldn't give any of the 3 much shot at Highlands in the finals. If the Bluebirds happened to get upset along the way, I think those 3 would stack up much better with a Lex Cath, Boyle or Cov Cath..

I believe Mayfield takes 1A & Bowling Green 5A.

 

I pick O Cath to beat NCC for the 2A title. (Went to last years game, what a great crowd and anticipation - game wasn't even competitive) I cheer for any team from the west that plays the 'Breds!

 

Too much invested in 3A to make a pick, but I think it will be a team from the West.

Thanks to DF and UK for working on this. I didn't vote much this year because I haven't had as much time to keep up with it. I finally got a chance to catch up in time for the last vote. Anyway, great job and pretty good turn out each week. I wish we good get better numbers from the west on here.
