Ramcat77 I think this is why this site exist. It's to express your opinion. But I believe the reason they got the ball in the hands of the three star backs alot more was the fact they had some very long drives. Getting 2, 3 and 5 yards a carry. That can mount up to a lot of plays. We are more of a wide open team. We had a lot of three and out. And our star back went out in the second quarter. He's the one that had some very nice long gaines in the first quarter. Plus our line wasn't opening up holes in the middle. There I go again making excuses. MAN!!

Just read that Neathercut had another concussion, that is 2 this season, and I hope he is looked at cautiously and perhaps gets checked out and cleared by a good neurologist. These concussions can ruin a person in later life and no game of football is worth dribbling oatmeal off your chin at 35 yrs old or so. May God Bless him and hope he has all the testing necessary, but in no way would I expect him to play for a good amount of time. Crosby the NHL has not played or had serious contact in nearly a year, caution and not getting hit, I can't imagine risking a 3rd concussion, and wish him and the Rams the best. As a parent,if it were my kid, I would seriously cosider dropping football, youhave to think of the future quality of life.

Well, I am the team doctor and I can assure you that he will be checked and cleared based on neorologic evaluation. I will not discuss specifics (HIPPA) but I can assure you that TN's safety is my primary concern, not his playing time.

Read the box score in the paper this morning and tell me we didn't get outcoached. Fairview consistently got the ball in the hands of their playmakers, 47 times between their three main running backs, our three touched it a total 15 times. Beach touched the ball one time!! You can't run big backs on the edges like we tried, time and time again and expect to get any yardage against a team like Fairview. We have too many playmakers who are not touching the ball and we won't beat a team like Fairview!!

 

Reed couldn't carry the ball due to injury. Passing game was shut down with an aggressive pass rush and good coverage. Not sure whose number was suppose to be called and if check downs were made but I thought we did the best we could under the circumstances. All 3 backs were injured.........just sayin'. I don't think we were outcoached, out played definitely. That's just my opinion.

Sugarcoat? I think, I for one, congratulate the other team and mention something productive we need to do in order to win. Do I think we are better than our 3-5 record? No, but we have goals and games left. I do not speak negatively about coaches or players. I am very proud of our team and school. Are we perfect? Heck no!

Just remember, you are entitled to your opinion the same as me or oldrambler or Ram, etc. Say what you feel........it's a great site and a great country.

One comment about schedule strength. Raceland plays a tougher schedule to prepare us for games like this one. That doesn't mean we will win. I do think we have grown up and played a lot better because of it. JMO

BTW, Fairview is the toughest team we have played all year. Ashland is far more talented with more weapons but Fairview flat out played physical. Tough, tough team. Koudos to the coaching staff for having them ready.

For those of you who've seen both play, can Fairview compete with Hazard for a chance at playing in BGreen? Who would be the favorite? What does Fairview do better and what does Hazard do better? Let me add Pikeville in the conversation as well, since you Ram fans have played both. How would you compare the 3?

I would be more concerned about the kids future regardless of who it is, who in their right mind would risk a 3rd concussion in any season? or lifetime for that matter? for high school football? whether they play for Raceland,Russell and the Dallas Cowboys.....just not worth it, you read where some with a history of so many concussions can be related to suicide etc.

I am well versed in what a concussion is and what constitutes time missed vs playing at all. As I said before, I will not discuss his condition on a public site.

Wasn't questioning nor do I want to or expect to know what anyones status is. MRI's can be clean,ct-scans clean,follow the finger and no problems or headaches and wind up half retarded in the future. My question is more as a parent? when is enough,enough? And who predicts the lingering effects in the future? I sure bet Ali wished he had hung them up....say after Foreman, than be like he is today. Both these teams played their guts out, and I am sure we are using the latest in computer testing etc they measures more than MRI's may show. An MRI,etc will clear from liability etc., but has 0 effect on predicting lingering effects. Your service to your team is great and in no way questioning, If it was my child with 2 I would dare the coach to consider contact for this season.

 

If the concussion issue was so set in stone as far as diagnosis,time off etc......the NFL wouldn't need to fly these players across the country to be treated. It is just not an exact science and no 2 are alike, but some players are more likely to have them than others and repeatedly.

 

I would rather see no player injured....ever, we all agree on that.

I don't know much about Hazard other than they are very good so I can't compare them to Fairview/Pikeville. Th e Raceland / Fairview game was a very close game halfway through the 4th qtr and Fairview took over. Raceland had 5 turnovers in the game and 2 of them imo directly cost the Rams a td.

As for Pikevile, Raceland played them early in the season and by what all at the game and the film showed imo Raceland should have won that one. That was the game a few Raceland players were badly affected by the heat and more so than all was the game that the father of a Raceland player suffered a fatal heart attack in the stands towards the end of the game.

As for comparison, Fairview imo is better than Pikeville. Fairview is an experienced jr./sr. team and are a very good,well coached team.

Yes, I agree. No injuries would be a perfect world. Football is a violent sport, however,just refer to Raceland's 3rd grade JFL team. Concussion or concussion type injuries are the hardest injuries to work with for everything you mentioned. We have had a player in the past that tested negatively on CT, cognitively was ok, neurologically ok but failed the coordination tests 3 days later. I choose to err on the side of caution when it comes to concussion symptoms based on scientific data and the history of residual symptoms that can show up later in life. Am I correct in all my decisions for these boys, probably not. But I can assure you, the parents, coaches and fellow doctors are involved in the decision making process. I will never hang a kid out to dry for the sake of winning a game.

:thumb: Absolutely Doc, I can't imagine anyone sending any kid out with even the slightest suspect of a concussion. I KNOW that no one at Raceland would if there was any question at all.
