Wow , it might be a sucky program , but he will see the field a lot earlier in his career there , and will have a chance to improve on the sucky program. So you think he should go to a better school , with a better program , then ride the pine for 2 or 3 years , or not even see the field at all. Yea right , that makes sense . PT is a player , he wants to show case his talents , and help his team win games , not watch them win games.

If PT is as good as you guys say(I was impressed with what I saw) then why should he sell himself short for a team that will likely never be bowl eligible while he is there? He is talented enough to be invited to the Elite 11 camps this past summer, right? Why sell himself short at UK IF he has an opportunity to go to a better program that will truly make him a better player? This is an old question PP92, sure you could look at it from that angle, or you could say why back down from the challenge. Why not stick with UK and try to be part of the reason their program turns around and becomes a consistent top 20 program over the next 4-5 years.

Because we(UK football fans) are lying to ourselves if we believe UK becomes a consistent top 20 program over the next 4-5 years. It's going to take a whole lot more than Patrick Towles for that to happen. UK is becoming the school you go to if that is your best offer. I'd rather see Towles go somewhere and win his junior and senior year than go to UK and become the starter next year.

Last I saw he had a lot of choices to go to college for free at, did he not? That holds no weight with me either. He is an elite athlete with plenty of places to go to school free at.

So you assume that he'd rather go to an elite program further away, where his friends aren't going and he has to start from scratch? Not every one has the same desires as what you're saying he should. I'm not saying he doesn't have thos desires, but you're acting likehe must have a me first and my football career is all I care about mentality.

Calm down. I don't have any opinion at all what PT should do. Someone asked why he might reopen. I answered why he might. It's all hypothetical.

Ummm no clearly I didn't. As it states, why not try to be a part of the reason their programs turns around, clearly that does not equate to please PT, don't go to another school because UK is clearly turning it around and you're going to be the reason that they do so. Especially when you consider the part before hand which you chose not to highlight that clearly shows that the context of that post was about a persons perspective and not about my own expectations....

I think the success, or in UKs case, non-success, may be a reason that determines where an athlete goes.

 

UK has a winning record, but has not looked good or performed well; you all act like they're on a record setting losing streak in the mountain west.
