I think Beechwood has a tremendous team neck and neck with Mayfield but that was not a 6A Powerhouse that they beat.

Of course anything can happen, but yes right now I think Mayfield is the only team that can beat Beechwood this year.

 

I think Beechwood is a real threat to win state this season. Vocke is obviously a breakaway runner which gives them the ability to score from anywhere on the field and not rely on long drives. However, I think CovCath and NewCath would be on the list of teams that could beat Beechwood this year. Not that either will, but I think both certainly could.

There is no problem with depth on the Beechwood line. There are about a dozen players in the junior and senior class that are from 210-290 who could all capably fill slots on the offensive line. Eyckmans is the one potential D1 level player and would be tough to replace. The rest are all very solid capable linemen. Last night versus Holy Cross, Eyckmans was the only lineman starting at the same position he started the season. The other four were new starters or playing a different position. That line led the way for 500+ rushing yards versus a top 10 2A school. You hate to see players hurt and especially seniors who have worked so hard to get to where they are starting. But the offensive line is not an achilles heel.

No doubt about that. But Beechwood had three backs go over 100 yards last night and a fourth probably had 60-70 yards rushing on very few carries, 4 backs scored TD's. The line did just fine.
