Should be a good one at P-burg this coming Friday. Your thoughts?

This could be the game of the week in EKY.

 

Prestonsburg has won the last two against the Pirates. Both teams are highly ranked within their class and both are playing very well in the early season. These two teams have a long history and it is always a good game when they meet up. Should be like a playoff atmosphere.

 

Can Belfry go into the Blackcats home field and take a win? Or will Prestonsburg spoil the Pirate party for the 3rd time in a row?

Belfry struggled with Henry Clay's speed last week. Will this be a problem against Prestonsburg? How speedy are they and how healthy is Jamerson?

 

I feel one of oneijoe's game analysis posts coming this week. :clap:

This should be a heck of a game. I'll take the Pirates who I think have the better defense. Belfry 27-20.

Belfry 29-12.

This one will be another measuring stick for both teams. Both these teams play tough schedules, but few games short of the playoffs will have the same anticipation for both squads as this one. No matter what spin they may put on it, the coaches, players and fans on both sides REALLY want to win this game. It is not just another week, and everybody will be pumped up for this one.

P'burg upsets Belfrey 31-24

These are two teams that have come to know the other very well. Watusi is right - it's always a game both teams want to win.

 

As has become the usual, Prestonsburg will try to win with aggressive speed while the Pirates counter with precise power. I'll add more later...

This is a good time of year for these two to play - enough games that everyone knows what he's doing, but soon enough that deficiencies each brings out in the other will help them both be better later.

I think this will be a really fun game and may not resemble the typical Belfry/Prestonsburg matchup.

 

Belfry's offense is not really built around bruisers in the backfield, they are playing running back by committee and overall they are a bit smaller and faster than what the typical Belfry backfield may have been in the past. By using more bodies, they have been able to be pretty fresh late in the game, noticibly so against Henry Clay. They seem to have been getting to the corner moreso than usual as opposed to keeping it between the tackles as much. Their passing game has been consistent too. Defensively they have played nice pass defense and they are hard hitters all over the field. They were solid at Henry Clay but they did give up the three really big plays to the speedy tailback. They only had to play defense for 13 minutes at Henry Clay, so if they have to go strong for half or more of the game, it will be interesting to see how they hold up.

 

Prestonsburg may find it easier to run than pass against the Pirates. If so, we may see a role reversal in these two teams, which would make this game fresh and fun to watch.
