December 9, 200520 yr All schools lke X, Trinity, LCA, and Lex Cath do is make it rough on true private schools like Maysville St. Patrick. Two claps for the athletic driven private school powers. How do we make it hard? Because we're successful? Are you going to say that schools like Male and Manual make it hard on the other public schools? Let's look at the whole picture here.
December 9, 200520 yr So all of your players come from Catholic feeder schools? All of Lex Cath athletes come from Cathoilic schools? I did not know Dunbar and Bryan Station were Catholic schools. I need to get some knowledge.

I need to get some knowledge. I didn't say that all of the athletes or even STUDENTS came out of Catholic Grade schools. I asked how many WERE Catholic grade schools....which you didn't answer. If you want to get technical, in 14 counties, I'll bet there are alot more than 53 Catholic and Public gradeschools/middleschools, respectively.
December 9, 200520 yr I just counted on the Archdiocese of Louisville's website. There are 39 Catholic gradeschools under the auspecies of the Archdiocese, covering 7 counties. Of the 53 feeder schools you mention that represents 74% of the total.
December 9, 200520 yr It also sounds like they dip into Indiana also. I dont know why you guys just dont admit you have an advantage and go on instead of coming up with all the excuses. It is probably not going to be separated so just admit it. 16 play football and five make state finals, what more proof do you need that it is not a level playing field.

Again, Prop 3 would take care of the Southern Indiana school issue, just as it would take care of W VA, TN, OH, and all other border states. We have tons of advantages, but we are willing to compromise some of them, including the implementation of a boundary of 20 miles. If Prop 3 AND a compromise of a 20 mile boundary would pass, would that not address some of the concerns you mention above? You mention the football playing schools, and the ratio of those making the finals, but you fail to mention basketball and baseball. On the flip side, you don't seem concerned about Volleyball, track, golf, swimming and tennis, which are probably of more concern to most public schools than simply the football teams. In addition, you don't mention girls sports. I never said there was a level playing field. In fact, I stated that the phrase "leveling competition" was an oxymoron. I hope there is a compromise, and that separation does not occur. But I do not kid myself that such a compromise would end the issue once and for all. There is an inherent "need" for public schools to eliminate the private schools from athletic competition, for some reason. And I doubt that the public schools will stop their fight until they get what they want, separation. But, there remains another issue no one is giving serious thought, open enrollment districts, versus districts with closed boundaries. Once the private schools are eliminated as competition, there will still be a lack of parity, given the ability of the Male's and Manual's to accept students from anywhere within the Jefferson County system, and that includes Catholc grade schools as well.
December 9, 200520 yr The minor sports and grils sports are really the most affected. It has gotten out of hand with some girls' basketball teams.
December 9, 200520 yr Author Hey, Jay you said it was your last post and posted 4 more times. You are correct about Russell. They are and were gracious during the OJ days. I am really sorry I used them as an example. Coach Dodd was at David Garnes funeral on Tuesday and was most gracious. I know alot of Rose Hill supports realized he was there and really apprciated his support. I have no problem with Russell I was just illustrating a point. I am close friends with the Vanhooses and they know I wish them and Joe the best. Anyway, I hope you realize that I didn't mean to single out Russell. I respectfully disagree with you on a couple of the private school points. I'm sure your not suprised.
December 9, 200520 yr No biggie. As long as schools abide by KHSAA rules then so be it. I always thought Rose Hill was a gold mine for boys hoops and when they found out it was, the school on Blazer Blvd had major problems with it even thought they had a loooooooooooooooong list of transfers from their storied past.

I agree with you about it being a gold mine. The current "core" kids at Rose Hill have been there for a while but it won't matter. When they start winning there will be alot of upset people. I just hope it happens because Tim Fraley has earned it.
December 9, 200520 yr This obviously needs clarified as Russell and Raceland have an agreement between schools because the schools are so close. Russell is not what I would call open enrollment as in open for all. Also, Kasey Clark has always attended Russell. His parents moved between his Freshman and Sophmore year inside the Raceland district. He almost transferred, but decided to stay since he had already started his HS career, both academically and athletically. What are you guys talking about? Kasey lives down the street from Russell QB Tommy Brown.

I would be satisified with this, I don't care how many titles they win , just admit its in part from being in a favorible situation.

December 9, 200520 yr Whatever you want to believe rockmom. Is that why they court the best athletes out of Jeffersonville IND? You see the letter the AD from over there wrote? Talking to you private schools is like talking to a wall. This is my last post on this thread. Bye Bye :walk:
