The only problem I have with the story from the bar manager is motive. Why would Lowery walk outside and swing at Jefferson if nothing happened inside? We also have another witness giving a different story. How do you determine this witness is more credible than the other?

So? Unless there is also footage of the entire incident outside and we see Jefferson standing on the side and not participating how do we know? 2 vs 1? You mean 2 guys trying to protect their bar? Heck, maybe the female witness was a Bama fan. We know nothing and can take nothing from what we've read. I do know the police took 49 pairs of shoes which tells me they're looking for DNA . That doesn't sound good for Jefferson.

I'd say that's pretty standard procedure when an accusation is made against a specific person. Don't know how you can infer that means bad news. Just means the police are doing their job. Also, who cares if the DNA is there. If this guy started the fight, Jefferson and the rest of them have every right to protect themselves.

The police do not grab shoes and DNA from every person who is mentioned in an interview. While we do not truly know what happened I'll stand by my feeling that them showing up at his apartment is not good for him. They have enough suspicion which is not good. Maybe the DNA clears him but he's more than just "of interest."

He wasn't just mentioned in an interview, he was accused of assualt. This is standard. They're searching his apartment to either find evidence to support the accusation or to clear him. That's what they should do with anyone accused of a crime.

The alleged victim is far from a poster child for the Marines.

Whether the players are punished (sitting out a game or multiple games) or not, this is a terrible distraction to deal with when they have to open the season with Oregon.

 

I suppose it could go one of two ways. The distraction hurts them, they don't play their best and lose. Or, they rally together and win.

 

Wait, there's always a third option with the Mad Hatter. They struggle, but manage to stay within striking distance when Les Miles decides to roll the dice and go for it on 4th and 26 from his own 17 yard line midway through the fourth quarter. The result? A touchdown, of course. Then to add to the mountain of evidence that Miles is indeed touched by an angel, Oregon drives back down to the one yard line, lines up for a game-winning field goal on third down and fumbles the snap. Then they miss a 22-yarder on 4th down to end the game.

There are obviously conflicting reports on what happened and everyone involved want to cover their fourth point of contact. However, there are some good life lessons from this:

1. Nothing good happens at a bar after midnight.

2. Don’t pick a fight with NCAA D1 football players.

3. 49 pairs of shoes for guy is waaay too many IMO.

Maybe I'm naive, but I just can't see Jefferson and his football friends jumping/fighting the guy for no reason. I have a feeling the victim probably had a lot to say, or a punch or two thrown before getting his head kicked in.

Depends on the witness. Some say victim came out and started swinging for no apparent reason. Others say there was an incident with a car blocking another and LSU players jumping one of the people in the car.
