July 31, 201115 yr Ubaldo Jimenez headed to Cleveland for 4 players. Getting hugs in the dugout after being pulled from the game.
July 31, 201115 yr Braves still looking. Apparently a lot of current players rolled their eyes when they were told that Braves officials say they have "4 to 6" untouchable players and will not trade them. Seems like Braves players want either Bourn or Upton. And it's that attitude by the front office that will lead to them not getting a worthwhile trade whether they want to or not. If they don't want to mortgage the future for this year, that's one way of going about it I suppose. But I think it is becoming clear by the way the Phillies go out and acquire players that the Braves are going to have to figure out a better way. The Phils are just buying the division each year right now.

July 31, 201115 yr Cards get Furcal. Fills a need but he hasn't been that good this year. Can he finish the year without going on the DL?
July 31, 201115 yr Kind of like what the Yankees try to do every year? Do you think there is something wrong with the way baseball is setup? Not fair is it? I'm not complaining nor am I saying it's not fair, I just think it sends the wrong message to the fan base. The word "untouchable" is thrown around way too much, especially in baseball. Prospects don't pan out a lot of the time. Anyone remember Wilson Betemit, and Andy Marte? They were considered "untouchable" yet both were traded, and both never panned out. If the right deal presents itself to the Braves and it gives them an upgraded chance to win now and still not really hurt the furture of the organization then I say why not. Seems like it's working for the Phillies.

Every organization in football has a chance to win the Super Bowl, (with the exception of the current class of Bungals), and I don't think you can say that about baseball. I know teams like the Marlins have surprised the big spenders but they are clearly the exception.
July 31, 201115 yr Red Sox to get Rich Harden from the A's. The deal fell through after a review of Hrden's medical report.
July 31, 201115 yr Braves add Michael Bourn of the Astros for Jordan Schafer, and 3 minor league pitchers. None of which are Delgado, Teheran, Minor, or Vizcaino. Great trade for the Braves.
July 31, 201115 yr Glad I was wrong on the Braves making a move. About the only downside is that they really needed a right handed bat, but Bourn addresses a serious deficiency at the leadoff spot. And to not have to give up any of the super coveted prospects, even better. Helps rebuild some of my faith in the front office. If they're planning on trying another move today, it would be nice to see the Braves get some long relief. The starters are doing well, and the one inning guys are lights out, but when they've had to pull a starter early by around the 4th or 5th inning, they've usually gotten blasted.
July 31, 201115 yr Outstanding move by Atlanta. I liked Schafer but its amazing the Braves were able to keep all top pitching prospects in this deal. I thought for sure at least Minor would be involved. Great deal! Excited to see a real leadoff hitter who can get on base and move around to score!
