What has to happen to fix the fiscal mess is going to hurt everyone. Not one person is to blame, it's been 20 years of mismanagement and overspending by both parties.

We're on the same page. I am not sure about Obamacare either but at least it is an effort at something. Bush was the worst president of my lifetime and Obama is working hard to surpass him. And I agree about the economic decisions. I just hope they all can find some middle ground to get through this latest debt/deficit crisis.

 

The only Presidents during my lifetime have been Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, & Obama. I would say Carter was the worst, but yes, GWB was bad in a number of ways. And I voted for him twice.

It's the typical American attitude that we want a balanced budget and to cut spending but we don't want it to inconvenience us in the least.

I believe this is a situation that calls to mind Kennedy's famous quote ... "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."

 

Everyone has to give something to get us out of this hole. It isn't fun, maybe it isn't fair, it might not even be right in some ways, but everyone has to give something. That includes this negotiation process to get to passable legislation - all our representatives have to give (compromise) on some issues or it isn't going to happen.

 

On the Democrat side, they have to give on entitlements. On the Republican side, they have to give on revenue increases.
