I could see keeping Andre over MJD. Alot of FF guys think MJD will be on the downward slide this year. But good RBs are so hard to come by in this league. Personally I would have kept MJD, but I couldn't fault someone for going AJ instead.

Rolling the dice but hard to pass up the thought of two top 10 backs leading the team.

MJD is 26 years old. He's been the unchallenged, carry-the-full-load starter for two seasons. He's failed to play in 3 games in 5 seasons. He's topped 300 carries one time in his career. He netted less than 200 carries in each of his first three seasons. His worst season netted about 11 points per game. He's been right at 14 per game or better in every other season. MJD's second season is the only time he failed to top 200 fantasy points.

 

Andre Johnson is 29 years old. He's missed 13 games in 8 seasons. He's topped 200 fantasy points two times in his career. He's been right around 13 points per game the past 3 seasons. He's never scored 10 TD's in a season.

 

Where's the argument for keeping Johnson? What am I missing?

I think it comes down to preference. Do you take one of the top scoring WR's or a Top 10 RB? Personally, I don't think it matters either way. It was a win-win-win situation.

That's huge in a league this big. There aren't 16 top notch, dependable fantasy RB's in the entire NFL. No way I'm giving one of them up. My lead back would have been somebody like Fred Jackson or Cedric Benson. I'll take my chances keeping the stud RB. Odds are, I'll get a better WR where I'm picking than vice versa.

I think it matters. RB's, especially in a league this big, are a more valuable commodity. There's no way you can give one away for a WR. It would be different if Johnson scored at an insane level and was an iron man. But, the guy has never scored double digit TD's in his career and he has a more suspect injury history than Jones-Drew. And, he's 3 years older.

 

In the worst season of his career, Jones-Drew was the 13th highest scoring RB in fantasy football.

 

Who would you have kept? Vick, MJD, AJ?

I kept Vick and Steven Jackson.

Who would you have kept, choosing between Vick, MJD and AJ? Seriously. Or are you telling me you kept Vick and Steven Jackson and let Andre Johnson go back into the pool?

 

There's 32 people in this league counting both conferences. I'd be surprised if 5 of them would keep Johnson in that scenario. Maybe I'll start a poll.

 

The problem is I seriously doubt I could get a second tier RB in a league this big. I might get a second tier WR. So I'm keeping a top 5-ish RB with a shot at a second tier WR.

 

To each their own. It may or may not work out. You never know in fantasy football. But, I won't lose any sleep thinking I made the wrong decision. If both guys remain healthy, I'll take my chances with MJD. And, at his age and with his workload through 5 seasons, I don't see any reason to think he's suddenly going to hit a wall. Neither guy concerns me in that regard, but Johnson concerns me more to be honest. He's older and he's had more injuries.
