South Warren 2011

Featured Replies

What does South Warren need to do to improve in 2011? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Where did the majority of students transfer from? Warren Central, Greenwood, Bowling Green? How will that affect those teams this year?

I can't imagine it will have too much of an effect. South Warren was open last season so those kids would now be two seasons removed from Warren Central, Greenwood, or Bowling Green. About the only problem it might cause for those schools is a lack in depth. Can anyone say how good South Warren was at the JV level last season? I know they played a full JV season against good competition.

The majority of their players came from Greenwood with a smattering from Warren Central, but that came about last year as gchs_uk9 pointed out.

I don't know what their final record was or if they won a game, but the JV was about as poor as you'd expect from a new school. I saw one game in person, at Warren East, which was one of their last games. That game was essentially a preview of this year's season opener for the two teams in the Rafferty's Bowl, since South Warren would be playing the majority of that team at the varsity level. Also, Warren East only had 4 seniors last year, so the majority of their team that played in that JV game will also be playing in the season opener, including a few underclassmen they held out of the JV game who are their best players on the team.

All of that is a roundabout way of me getting to the fact that Warren East's JV destroyed South Warren's JV team in that game. I think it will be a very, very long season for South Warren.

As a new District rival I hope your prediction is correct DragonFire!!!! I look forward to playing them this year...they will surely know when the crowd from Monroe rolls into town.....
