Pleasure Ridge Park 6 Lexington Catholic 5 (9 innings)

Featured Replies

Anyone know who all pitched for PRP and how many innings each threw? Who will be their likely starter for Thursday's game?

What a game by Martin of LexCath and Angus of PRP. Neither got the win or the loss but I had Angus throwing 128 pitches (8 complete innings) before he was done and Martin was taken out after throwing 99. The thing about Martin of LexCath was he was taken out after striking out the first batter in the seventh but the catcher lets the ball get away from him so the runner is on 1st. The LexCath relief pitcher had trouble so the LexCath Coach inserts Martin back into the game after the next three batters single, single and FC 4-6. Martin continues to pitch and is finished after throwing a total 125 pitches in 7.2 innings of pitching.

Theoldguy tips his hat to both of these outstanding pitchers.

BTW Angus after twice being Intentional Walked (4th inning @ 7th inning) got the game ending SF 9 in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded, to win the game for PRP.

This gentlemen was an outstanding baseball game and the Ballpark was packed with fans who had a ball watching a great baseball game.

Would post more but I have a long day ahead of me, as I have to be at work @ 6am!

I agree, what a game. Too bad they played early in the tournament, this would have been a great final game. For me it was interesting to see the matchup of coaches. Coach Miller at PRP who has been around forever and a young first year coach with Lexington Catholic coach Brooks. Miller made changes and called his game and coach Brooks matched in move for move. Congrates to coach Miller and coach Brooks for a job well done. PRP is of couse in solid hands and Catholic has a very bright future with their coach.

Funny you should mention that KyTmcNCC. Martin (LC Pitcher) Mother was sitting directly in front of me and we started talking as the game progressed. I was telling her how many pitches he had thrown, number of K's and such the entire (very nice and nervous lady) of the game. We got around to a pet pee of mine and that was LexCath and the community of Lexington calling themselves Catholic, like they are the only Catholic HS in Kentucky. I told her heck, just in about a 15 miles circle of CovCath there are just in Ky was CovCath, NewCath Holy Cross, St. Henry Villa, Cov Latin, NDA and at least a dozen other Catholic HSin Ohio who BTW were HS before LexCath was ever LexCath. She told me she never thought of it that way and told me that she has been to CovCath on a couple of occasions to watch LexCath play CovCath in basketball and just loved the crazies! Very nice lady....

Same with schools in the state that call themselves "County"...and they say, well, we are the only team with "county" in our name in our county.

People in Lexington and in the region often shorten Lexington Catholic to Catholic because it is the only Catholic high school in the area. Its just an area term, and nothing more should be read into it.

Just laziness I guess we should call Lafayette , Sayre , Fern Creek and Bryan Station etal just Public .

Laziness has nothing to do with it, in Central Ky they are known as Catholic, not just from the Lex Cath people, but from people from other schools and even from the newspapers.

Doesn't make it right use the proper name of the school . It is not just Catholic .

Is it really that big of a deal? People in Northern Kentucky shorten Newport Central Catholic to New Cath. Are they really the "New" Catholic school in the state of KY? No. It's just convenient and easy and still not the "proper name of the school". Maybe it is even "lazy".

It is asinine to think that Lexington Catholic fans or anyone from the Central KY area uses the phrase "Catholic" to imply that they are the only Catholic school in the state of KY. Just as Newport Central Catholic through local colloquialism has become "New Cath". It's just hard to believe that these Northern Kentucky Catholic high schools feel like they are being slighted because people tend to refer to Lexington Catholic as just "Catholic". Get over yourselves and stop looking for something to complain about.
