They needed someone close by (Brian or Jason) to bring back that MC mystique. Can an outsider re-establish that mystique if they don't have it?

If you don't know Brian "Rabbitt" Littleton then you must not be from Mason County. Brian played on the 1981 and 82 Mason County championships seasons and have basically started, ran and coached our girls youth program for several years. He has coached over 400 games in AAU and has some really good girls coming up. Akin and Appleman talked about the feeder program and it is basically ready to go Thanks to Brian, Darrin Poe and others. Brian was willing to quit his job at UPS for the job and would have not only been in the school everyday but would have lived in the gym. This was his dream coaching job.

Wow, Didn't know Rabbit was willing to leave UPS for this job, I just figured thats why they never gave the coaching job to him because of his work schedule. I don't know how good a coach Akin is, but I do know Rabbit is pretty darn good.

Haha. I know him only as "Rabbit". No I didn't grow up in Mason County but I've lived there and the surrounding area for 21 years. Yes, Brian would be an excellent coach. My daughter's played in the Mason County programs since third grade but Brian was never involved in any of her leagues or teams. He was probably too busy with his son. Last I checked Brian lived in Ohio. I used to live in the street next to his. I wonder if that mattered.

Why would where he lived matter?

Rabbitt has done a good job with the feeder program and I am sure Coach Akin will benefit from Brians work.

I don't know. Just a thought. In some places, government employees have to live in the jurisdiction in which they work. If you work for the state of Kentucky or Ohio, you have to live within the state. Some cities and counties have the same requirement.

I think Mason Co hired who they wanted....and someone close to their program wasn't it. Location or proximity to school had nothing to do with the decision.

Think Mason County dropped the ball big time on this hire, they are starting to remind me of Bracken County before you and Chad were hired, continously going outside of their county thinking the grass is greener. Would have liked to seen Brian get this job, but MC is also down big time when it comes to baseball or softball and think Brian would be an instrumental hire over what they have in these positions right now

I have some other theories and thoughts but I'm not about to say them on a public forum. But, we'll see how it works out. I hope it works out well for the sake of the girls playing there right now. Otherwise, by the time it gets straightened out it will be too late for them.

I heard rumor that Brian Littleton was offered an assistant position but turned it down.

Who are the assistants?

I wonder what Butler is going to do...its hard to be assistan for someone who got job over you and has 10+ less years experience! Probably why Rabbit said no.

I haven't seen Jason in about 3 weeks. The girls on the team that I've talked with don't know who the assistants will be. Open gym starts next week, maybe we'll here something then.

Brian "Rabbitt" Littleton turned down the assistant strictly due to financal reasons. He loves the girls on the lower levels as well as the high school level. He really wanted the head coaching job and then thought an assistant might work out but just could not do it. He is a little down right now due to not getting the job. Brian has no issue with Coach Akin as they have not talked but wishes her the best for not only his daughters coming up through the system but also for every young lady he coaches in the youth program.

So he hasn't spoke with the new head coach but turned down an offer to be an assistant? Who offered him then?
