March 29, 201115 yr Wouldn't ya have to say this is a fun and an exciting final four however; probably the weakest field in years, if not EVER? It's probably by far the most combined losses ever. It was a great win over OSU, but the win over a mediocre rebuilding UNC team is not a huge deal folks. On the other hand, UK's road to get to the Final Four was probably the toughest in school history. You had semi-legitimate points until you called UNC a mediocre rebuilding team.

I understand why you would call-me-out on that statement however; I was just stating that "I" think they were mediocre/rebuidling. 1) A pretty good frosh PG 2) no quality depth on the inside 3) no perimeter shooters 4) a pretty athletic center, but not a beast by any means. Henson is pretty good, but makes a ton of mistakes that hurts his team. When Henson got in foul trouble and it hurt UNC that badly because there was no depth...Plus, when they had to completely rely on Barnes (Frosh) to carry'em...that, IMO, proves mediocrity & rebuilding. Let's also not forget they weren't even in the tourney last year which in and of itself should constitute rebuilding. UK is rebuidling also, they just did a better job of it Any Championship is great, but to call this potentially the "best ever" with so many incredible past UK teams...come on, seriously! Whomever started this post was wayyy too jacked up!

I would have to disagree. I would go with the '78 and their route to the title. *First Round vs. Florida State. Noles won the Metro 7 Regular season (L'ville, Cincy, Memphis, FSU, et al) but lost to the Cards in tourney final. Very, very good first round opponent. *Second Round vs. Miami (Ohio). Marquette was actually supposed to be their opponent but the defending champs (and 1 of only 2 teams other than UK to hold #1 in polls at some point) were upset by the upstarts from Miami. *Mideast Regional Final vs. Michigan State. Big 10 Champs. Magic Johnson, Greg Kelser, Jay Vincent. Same team that would win the NCAA the next year. *Final Four vs. Arkansas. The SWC Regular Season Champ. The other team to be ranked #1 for a week (Besides Marquette) when the Cats weren't. Triplets: Sidney Moncrief, Marvin Delph, Ron Brewer. *Title Game vs. Duke. ACC Tourney Champs. Young team but had: Gminski, Spanarkel, Gene Banks and Kenny Dennard. This year the Cats have played a tough (compared to season not history) road to get to the Final Four but in the Final Four the best they will face is a 9-9 regular season Big East Team in UConn (who is on a tear), and either an unranked VCU or Butler. '78 road was much tougher IMO. :thumb:
March 29, 201115 yr Th Fiddlin' Five team (composed of fiddlers not violinists, per the Baron) from 1958 was probably more of an improbable winner than this team would be.
