Heard that Austin Collinsworth has been moved back to WR from Safety because of this.

According to the Notre Dame student handbook, Floyd's career SHOULD be over. We'll see if Brian Kelly finds some sort of way to get around it and get him back on the field

 

Hopefully Kelly doesn't, it will show that they at least have some moral character UNLIKE plenty other programs.

As a result the school (athletes or not) has taken a more moderate view on these types of incidence. The fact of the matter is, if Floyd were on scholarship for Tennis this probably never hits the paper. He is put on probation along with a set of criteria he must fulfill in order to remain at the school.

The fact is they do get favoritism many times simply by being accepted to ND. Many of the players would not otherwise be accepted to ND., whose average ACT score is 30. The football team itself is closer to a 24 ACT average, with none below 21. However, once they are enrolled the school itself does not show much favoritism. Will Yeatman was a star Football and LaCrosse player at ND. He recieved a DUI in February of 2008, and was put on probation. In October of 2008 he was arrested at a party and charged with underage drinking. His blood alcohol level was well below a DUI level, but since he was under 21 it was considered illegal.

 

His punishment was to be kicked off the Football team, and suspended from La Cross for 1/2 the season. He ultimately transferred to Maryland. Nine other students were also arrested for underage drinking who were not members of a sports team. Their punishment probation. Two of those students had previous alcohol related tickets. So to say that the Football players will be shown favortism sounds good, but is not based on Facts.
