March 8, 201115 yr Yet there are many who believe we're still not spending enough. A few right here on this board.
March 8, 201115 yr Shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone with Republicans in control of Congress now......
March 8, 201115 yr Author The budget has increased 30% from the 2007 budget yet revenue has decreased 15%. Is there anyone that can't see that government spending is out of control?
March 9, 201115 yr Is there anyone that can't see that government spending is out of control? Wisconsin teachers come to mind.................................
March 9, 201115 yr Wisconsin teachers come to mind................................. Wisconsin teachers gave on ALL of the budget aspects, just want to keep collecting bargaining, so just keep spewing
March 9, 201115 yr Author Wisconsin teachers gave on ALL of the budget aspects, just want to keep collecting bargaining, so just keep spewing ONLY after they had nothing to lose. If the state would have asked for the same things without taking collective bargaining would they have said ok? Absolutely not. They would be fighting about it for the next year.
March 10, 201115 yr You have nothing on which to base that. Your assumption is that the teachers union is unreasonable. If you paid attention in Kentucky over the last 5 years you will notice that Oxendine worked with the Governor and Senator Williams to reasonably decrease the amount of money contributed by the state toward Health Insurance for teachers. The Union simply didn't say "no way" they said, lets work together to get to a reasonable place and not surprisingly we reached a compromise. That is how it is supposed to work.

I have seeing with my own eyes how unreasonable unions can be to base that on. They may have given some but no chance they would have agreed to what he was asking. Your assuming that union is reasonable.
March 10, 201115 yr I have seeing with my own eyes how unreasonable unions can be to base that on. They may have given some but no chance they would have agreed to what he was asking. Your assuming that union is reasonable. And I gave you a specific example of a public employee union working with the government on a deal. Had the Governor worked with them there may have been more and better ways to go. Instead, nobody had a chance to draft a compromise. You got a specific example of a public employee union being unreasonable?
March 10, 201115 yr Wisconsin teachers gave on ALL of the budget aspects, just want to keep collecting bargaining, so just keep spewing No spewing here. You do a good job of that all on your own. Keep up the good work.:thumb:
March 10, 201115 yr No spewing here. You do a good job of that all on your own. Keep up the good work.:thumb: So you don't deny that the public employee unions gave on the fiscal part?

Had the Governor worked with them there may have been more and better ways to go. Instead, nobody had a chance to draft a compromise. You got a specific example of a public employee union being unreasonable? You're making assumptions the same as me. Just because you can name 1 example of a union working with their employer doesn't negate my point. I can name you dozens of examples where they haven't. What part of their pensions and insurance do KY teachers pay now?
