I thought Ryle beating Highlands was the biggest win in NKY school history!

 

What does NKY school history mean? And second of all No. While it was a huge win for Ryle, they beat another NKY school that is much smaller than them. The KHSAA seperates teams by enrollment unless there are travel concerns. So by the only indicator that they can fairly seperate teams, Ryle has the advantage. UK fan, would YOU say that was the biggest win in NKY high school football history?

Put 'em together and let them play UK. So once again, if Highlands wins it is the biggest win in school history, but if Elder wins it is because they are bigger. Gosh not alot for the Panthers to play for then...

 

You are exactly right. Elder is a much larger private school, they should win. It is like Beechwood playing Highlands. Under your logic no team that has an advantage over another team, furthermore they shouldn't play another team because the team without the advantage always has an excuse. Every good team plays teams that they are supposed to beat. Do you think enrollment is an advantage?

To many factors involved before we can say it may or may not be the biggest win in Highlands history. It's fun to talk about but Silly to say the least, one game at a time Birds!!!

Well, I know one guy that will say the biggest win in Highlands history was against Ashland in '43.

Obviously, if Highlands wins the Elder game it has the potential to be an all-time best win for HHS, but also consider the following "ifs":

 

Highlands takes on Boyle County to start the season: if Highlands wins the Bluebirds will snap BC's 30-game win streak.

 

Highlands takes on Dixie Heights: if Highlands wins it will involve beating a QB (Pike) who has offers from about every major college football program in the nation.

 

Highlands takes on Ryle at the end of the season: if Highlands wins it will mean defeating the only NKY opponent who has beaten Highlands since 2006.

 

Highlands takes on Pendleton County and Louisville Western: if Highlands wins these games then it will be the first time the Bluebirds register victories against either of these football programs.

 

Highlands takes on Covington Catholic: if Highlands wins it will be the Bluebirds' sixth straight win against their arch-rival.

 

I list these other games to point out that Highlands' schedule does not consist of Elder and a bunch of other non-descript opponents. Highlands has the potential to score some very meaningful victories in 2011, but they will only be able to do so by taking one opponent at a time and one week at a time.
