They still have him next year no matter what but apparently he isn't very happy about the trade. They said he had no idea it was in the works and he found out on Sportscenter.

But at least they have two years to attempt to persuade him to stay in NJ/Brooklyn. Or if an extension isn't looking likely, they can attempt to flip him next year for some usable assets. Either way, this was a BOLD move by The Russian.
February 23, 201115 yr Btw, Williams isn't even eligible for an extension until July. So there will not be a extension immediately for sure. Wow, what a freakin' gamble.
February 23, 201115 yr Says the Jazz also recieved two first round picks. They get rid of someone who didn't want to be there and basically gain three first round picks if you count Favors.
