February 10, 201115 yr WOW, I am shocked by that statement. Do you pray at a restaurant before you eat or do you go hide so no one will see you so you wont offend non-believers, since Christians are supposed to be examples and help spread the word by showing you are not ashamed. Not many school shootings when prayer was in school. Do you believe in abortion? Christians aren't supposed to pray for show either....Which is what praying in a public place can be taken as.
February 10, 201115 yr Well since I am a Christian I am for prayer in school, yes. Seems fishy a mosque wants to be built by the worst terror attack in US History. I am sure Iran would welcome the biggest Christian Church in the world in downtown Baghdad and allow freedom of and secure worship by Christians. Heck why not ask North Korea if they care if we put a few missile bases in their cities. I think to be better and politically correct the Islamic community should a build a Mosque right where the WTC was. So we can all be happy and please the Islamic people, after all they are more of a citizen than we are. people like you start race hate by ASSUMING what others think. Go take your hate elsewhere. What does race have to do with religious beliefs? You keep talking about race hating, but no one but you is mentioning race. What are we missing? Also, Iran and North Korea aren't country's founded on religious freedoms and freedom of speech. Comparing the U.S. to either of those countries is a disgrace to the great country the U.S. has become, because we're tolerant of others' beliefs.
February 10, 201115 yr I do not pray for show, I pray because I am thankful to God for what I have. praying in school was never about show, about being thankful for life. I am glad some are not afraid to do this and I am real glad true Christians want religion back in schools. People can take it for however they want, but a prayer is a prayer. I am sure a good preacher will tell you they want prayer back in schools for our kids, if not IMO they are false teachers and those followers are false also.

So it's okay for you to pray in school, but not for a Muslim boy to pray in school? Am I understanding that properly? So the whole separation of church and state thing in the Constitution should just be erased right? Well, only if it's for Christian prayer, I guess.

Not many school shootings when prayer was in school. Do you believe in abortion? Matthew 6:5-8a 5"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6"But you, when you pray,go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8"So do not be like them; I always try to follow what scripture, and in this case, Jesus says about the subject. No, I pray in restaurants. But my table is just that, my table. A public, government sponsored classroom is a different setting IMO. We don't want this thread to get off on religious liberty here. (Don't want to get in trouble with the Mods) Suffice it to say I will gladly share my life as a witness anytime that you may want. I think I am being the best example as God empowers me to be and am not ashamed of his word. In fact, I would say my statement is closer to Jesus' than yours. As to school shootings and prayer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_disaster That was 1927. Here's a list of many predating the Supreme Court ruling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school-related_attacks#cite_note-30 I might add that while they had "prayer in schools" mostly in the south it was in "all-White" and "All -black" schools. (What does one have to do with other? Probably nothing on your citing killings, my citing segregation, or you asking about abortion :thumb:)

Prey tell where that scripture lies that states that in order to be a believer we have to also: 1) Believe in School sponsored prayer for all public children 2) Having "religion back in schools" I'm glad I'm not as free with the scriptures as you (or any pastor you are thinking of) seems to be on this site.

Why would the people of Iran care about what was going on in downtown Baghdad? BTW...I am a public school teacher and I pray in school any time that I want.

But Separation of church and state is not in the Constitution.

February 11, 201115 yr Well I am glad we can have the liberty to disagree and post our ideas. Believe me I blame Christians for sitting back and let most stuff happen.

However I am more concerned about the Kingdom of God than political control of a nation. Jesus seemed to reject that as well in one of the Wilderness temptations.

February 11, 201115 yr ^ See even I make mistakes sometimes. If it makes you feel any better, I was surprised when I saw that you were the one to post it! :thumb:
