Wonder if the call was right or not.

 

From what I've read, the call was clearly erroneous.

Not near as much on the line as if it was win or go home, like in post season regional tournament play. Did they have backboards that light up at the buzzer? Franklin County was beaten by Henry Clay last season because the refs did not count a basket at the buzzer for FC. At EKU the technology was in place with the lighted backboards, to clearly see that the basket should have counted. Refs did not get together to make the right call, FC went home. Sure the coaches were upset, but no police escorts, and no fines. It's inexcusable, Morrow has had repeated reprimands, and he continues the foolishness. I think someone posted 4. I thought it was 3 strikes and you're out? I'm sure there are many quality individuals, with quality basketball credentials, that would love to coach at J Town, where there are such talented athletes.

 

The Game was played at Bellarmine College and yes they have the lights on the backboard. It was not a lose or go home game like Franklin co. However, The LIT is big in Louisville. It is also big finanacially, since money is split per round by the teams. J-Town would have played Eastern again and that would have been a sellout. Again not condoning Morrow's actions. He got what he deserves. However, there needs to be accountability with officials. Those three should have been suspended for not conferring and running off the floor.

If that is true, then that was lame of the officials. Let's get the call correct, not worry about the way he was acting. Sounds like an after the fact excuse on why they missed the call. I just don't understand how officials don't automatically huddle after a last second shot to see what everybody had before leaving the court. Same thing occurred last year in Henry Clay - Franklin County game. Technology obviously won'[ allow instant replay, but at least discuss it.

 

Having said all that, it doesn't excuse Morrow for acting like a fool and he should be in trouble for acting like that. But, what I don't get is if a coach gets ejected, he gets a two-game suspension. These comments -- albeit off the court -- would have constituted something similar, so I think he should have been suspended two games.

 

I could not disagree more. Note that I am all for getting a call right, but you reap what you sow and Morrow did not sow anything that meritied ANYTHING from the referees. I compare it to baseball: If a coach thinks that a tag was missed or a home run was foul, he knows that if he flies off the handle and gets ejected first, that the call won't get changed. If he pleads his case professionally then the umpires might get together and change the call if they were obviously wrong...

I also disagree. No matter how a coach might react, the officials should make sure the call is correct before leaving the floor. On a different note, how does he still have a job?

Let me first say, Morrow did get what he deserved. He did the wrong thing by putting the refs name on his twitter and just kept going on and on about it. I would say if anything the penalties were a little lighter than I figured they would be. I thought he might get a couple of games off the bench.

 

But with that said, the ref in question should also get a reprimand or something. I was sitting just in the bleachers by that basket when it happened and they clearly missed it and the TV replay showed the ball on the kids hip when the light went off. But no discussion and honestly not sure how they missed it with the light.

 

I guess my point like others on here, coaches can get fines and games and whatever. But the refs also need something for when the screw up. That cost Jtown a ton of money for a share in two more rounds of the LIT but the refs just go on like nothing ever happened.
