Why does Mark Perry want to leave Washington County?

Featured Replies

Coach Perry has had some success at WC and I was surprised to see him in the running for the Campbell County job.

Why does he want to leave Washington County?

Anyone?

While dropping Danville from the regular schedule was perhaps appealing, in the Ads' place he finds three unpleasant Louisville trips coming up in the future, two of which could regularly result in losses (CAL, DeSales) for a school that, if I'm not mistaken, got its first win in school history over Bardstown -- which has been down the past few years -- this past season. They will remain districtmates with Bardstown, which should be a lot better in 2011, as well as a Fort Knox squad that figures to be up-and-coming with the Army's major base realignment plan that is currently in progress.

Unless he builds a bunch upon what happened this past season, Perry would in most years likely be fighting tooth and nail with Shawnee and whoever else is down that particular season in the district just to make the 2A playoffs as the 4 seed. Don't get me wrong, however, as the 2011 Commanders should be very good after losing just three seniors, but 2010-11 is likely to be the high-water mark for this program.

Campbell is regarded as a move up. You would get to live near Cincy as well.

Plus he is from Ohio. To be honest I don't think it's fair to discuss why he has applied at other positions.

Nicely done. Agreed, on all accounts. Personally, a chance for anybody to better themseleves and/or family should never be questioned. In this case w/ Campbell County, I'm sure that was so that he could be 2 hours+ closer to his family. Mark is a great man and a dang fine coach.

He has applied for a lot of job in the past few years, I would say that Washington County is not a easy place to win at. So he is looking for an upgrade. Good for him.

If he has in fact applied for a lot of jobs I think it is a very fair question.

Not sure I can agree with this, if I am at a school that a coach applied at, I would want to know why he wants to leave his current school. Not saying it wouldn't be a good reason, but I think the people hiring and other involved would want to know why they want to leave their current job.

I would want to know why the people hiring and others involved look at other jobs that come open, also. It's a two way street, or at least it should be. It's like some these bigtime college coaches that preach commitment to their players, loyalty, persaverance, etc., then up and leave before their season is over (between last regular season game and the bowl game). By God, they want their players to not let the thought of transferring enter their minds, but rest assure, if another job comes open that is a better opportunity for them (head coaches), they are going to look into it, if not take it.

I guess what I'm saying is. Nobody should question career moves if the employee feels it's a chance to better themselves.
