I don't know about that but imo it looks like they were so sure that all they had to do was call and Harbaugh would come running that they hadn't considered anyone else. Now they have a story (RR fired) that leaked out and they want someone that has already told them that he will take the job before they make the firing of RR official. At least thats the impression I get but I have been wrong plenty of times before. Should that be the case then you talk about a major "Ooooops":eek:. I wouldn't want to be the guy that leaked that story or went ahead and reported it.

January 5, 201115 yr In my conspiracy world, one of two things happened here... Either a.) Michigan wanted to judge the reaction by Harbaugh and "tested the waters" if you will, by leaking the story that RR had been fired on Tuesday, and had a safety net of "we didn't fire him" that they could formally announce Tuesday night. b.) They really, really, really didn't like what RR had done ot the program, and wanted to punish him as much as they could...so they fired him twice!
