One player scored off the bench for HHS? Did Coach Flynn have a short leash on the bench players?

He had an 8 man rotation tonight, you could say that. Stew had 18 and a couple sweet rejections. One he pinned against the board. Crowley shot the 3 well and Carter New did a nice job off the bench with Dean in foul trouble most of the night. Towles and New are cleaarly not in basketball shape yet. Towles showed glimpses of how good he can be, one time taking it coast to coast dribbling between defenders. You dont see too many 6'5 230 guys do that.

Meiman the soph for St Henry had a really nice 2nd half. He takes the ball strong to the hoop.

Birds travel to Paris tomorrow in the KY Bank shootout vs Dupont Manual.

Q, I realize the Birds are much better than this showing since the football guys just came back and aren't in basketball shape yet, but considering Holmes beat the Cru by 44 last night and led by as many as 55, is this performance by the Birds somewhat disappointing?

No not at all. St Henry played hard and the Birds plaayed about 75% of what they are capable. Stew was getting triple teamed all night and he got 18. Dean, the meistro was saddled with fouls but New played strong at the point with only a coule practices under his belt.

I dont think you can measure every team that plays St Henry off of that Holmes blowout. You gotta have a short memory in hoops and those Crusaders played that way. By Jan the Birds should be at their best.

I thought Collinsworth was going to play for Highlands. But he didn't dress, even in the reserve game.

Looking forward to seeing the Birds here soon.

Injured wrist in State final game and is out a couple weeks. Considering it is going to take the other 3 sophs a few weeks to get up to speed and back in basketball shape this may set him back a little further. Its unfortunate but happens. If you caught the JV game last night you can clearly see the footballers need court time as they have only had 3 practices. Its the small price you pay for winning state championships in football every year.

They have a nice core and Stewart is a lot of fun to watch.

Stew is a POY candidate. He should average a double double.

It is quite possible, Im not sure he got to double digits in boards last night but very close. Like I said, they were doing a good job of triple'n down on him once he got the ball on the blocks. His sheer height got him a lot of boards as well. The Cru although not the most talented, they block out as well as I have seen and that is a tribute to Faust and his coaching staff.

St. Henry has a tough schedule coming up, but they have this type of schedule every year. They have games with Connor, Dixie, Ryle, and Boone among others, 9 in all before the ALL A. This team could be easily 2 & 10 going into the ALL A or worse. Their first 3 games they are averaging 44 points a game. The Barnett injury has really hurt this team not only from a scoring standpoint but from a Senior leadership standpoint. The difference in this years team versus teams in years past is talent, not saying this team does not have any ,but St. Henry teams in the past were atheltic and were deep and talented and always had alot of Seniors. The one thing St. Henry teams did not have over the last few years is height and that was it, they had alot talented players. So Coach Faust will need to coach better then he has ever done for this team to knock off teams like Boone and Cov.Cath, as his team did last year and his teams in past years. But as it has been said many times over the years Coach Faust gets the most out of the talent he has each year, so this team should not be any different then teams in the past. Good luck to the Cru the rest of the way and hopefully things will turn around for this team.
