What people don't understand about this St Herny team is that it basically have ZERO players right now with Varsity experience.

The past 2 seasons varsity experienced players like Cameron Speed, David Zumdick 2yrs ago and Ryan Anderson, Ben Bessler, Jake Hils last season all have come and gone. Now the kids playing behind those talented players are finally getting there chance to step up. And to add to it....the only player with any big game experience (Barnett) suffers a tough injury in the first game of the season.

But don't get me wrong....Im not making excuses for the CRU. They still have a lot of work to do and have to get better on both sides of the ball.

He had an 8 man rotation tonight, you could say that. Stew had 18 and a couple sweet rejections. One he pinned against the board. Crowley shot the 3 well and Carter New did a nice job off the bench with Dean in foul trouble most of the night. Towles and New are cleaarly not in basketball shape yet. Towles showed glimpses of how good he can be, one time taking it coast to coast dribbling between defenders. You dont see too many 6'5 230 guys do that.

Birds can match up with front lines throughout the 9th Region. They will go as far as the backcourt will take them. If their guards can handle good, pressing defenses, then they have a good chance to make some noise in the 9th region.

Well the good news is they utilize their bigs to break the press. They typically are the ones coming to the ball along the sidelines and once they catch it they generally turn and can see over the press and fire it to the guard streaking down the court. But I definitely think the Guard play is key this year with Dean/Crowley/New.
