Annual crosstown showdown in Alexandria. Always a hard fought game. Both teams with a lot of new faces. Camels will try and run and Mustangs will slow it down. Should be fun.

Camels win 57-49.

For a rivalry such as this, the game will be ugly at times, very hard fought, and a close one until the end. The great thing about this game every year is that it is early in the season so both teams really are not sure where they stand.

I will still take my stangs in this one:

Mustangs: 54

Camels: 51

Always one of the highlights of the season.

As stated, it will be the Cambell County offense vs the Brossart defense. Campbell County does have some new players to compliment the returning players, and Brossart too has a new cast for this year's rivalry. I've liked what I've seen out of our Mustangs to date and have total confidence that our guys will be up to the task and get the job done again this year. With that being said, I am not that familiar with the 2010-11 Camels. If they are capable of beating us, then my hat will certainly be off to them. The one sure thing about the game will be that both teams will give 100% and give the fans a great show.

For those of you not familiar with this rivalry, it is the closest thing you can come to duplicating regional tournament atmosphere in an early season, regular season game. Both fans sections turn out and the student sections fill to overflowing.

Incidentally, this is the last year that this crosstown matchup will take place in December. Starting 2011-12, the games will be played on the first weekend in January, which I personally think will detract from the early-season "rite of the new season" presently in place. However, the good news is that the event will remain at the Campbell County Middle School which is certainly fan-friendly and a great venue in which to hold such a popular spectacle.

Looking forward to a great night of bball in A-Town! Not sure who to root for in this one. I have one son who is a graduate of CCHS and another who is a future Mustang! Leaning towards the Stangs though since I know more kids on that team. Good luck to both teams!

I think Coach Code and the Stangs will put locks on the Camels. Obviously it will be a great game and come down to a basket or 2. McGovney vs Saunders matchup will be one to watch as those two were former AAU teammates for the KINGS back in the day. Graf and Jennings seem very similar in their stature and abilities, but I think it comes down to coaching and defense and Stangs will pull it out.

Camels 77 stangs 69 . Camels have too much offensive firepower for stangs. Should be a good game.

If there is 146 points scored in this game, I will be completely shocked. But, if it is higher scoring, it will favor the Camels.

Campbell County might win the game but I pretty comfortable saying they will not score 77 points.

I am going with Brossart in a slugfest 59-50!

The over/under is 100 points.

If over 100 CCHS wins, If under BBHS wins.

Mustang, any idea what the All-Time standings vs each other are for these 2 teams?

I would take the Mustangs in this one, but I think it will be close 62-58. I would be interested in Coach Code's record vs Coach Russell. I know they have coached against each other every year for the last 6 years. Always a great early season game. I agree with Mustang - it will lose some appeal moving it to January.

I would really love to see this one played on the Mustang home floor. It's been either the MS or HS for essentially a home game for the Camels since I can remember. I would be interested in the record in the MS games and the record in the games played at the HS. Financially it only makes sense to play at CCHS but what an advantage.

The game is at CCMS for capacity reasons. My experience is there are as many Mustang fans as Camel fans the last few years so it is not a Camel home game. If the game were at Brossart, many people would miss the opportunity to see this game.

Also, I believe the schools alternate the hosting rights. So, Brossart gets the gate every other year as well.

You are correct the 'home' team reverses every year and takes the gate. There was much discussion about hosting at their own courts, Campbell Lobbied hard to play it at the high school but bulked when Brossart said they would host the following year at the Sydome. It would not be fair to the fans who flock to this game. It amazes me that the are as many Mustangs fans as Camel fans at this game as you say. The support for the tiny Alexandria step child is stellar. Maybe with a new coach more Camel fans will come because they like to see points on the boards??

Don't know the answers to all of those questions BUT, in modern history, starting with the Schlarman era in 1997-98 the Mustangs are 12-10 over Campbell County in all encounters (Crosstown, MCIT, District).

We (Brossart) are 8-5 in Crosstowns with Brossart winning 5 in a row starting in 2002, then losing two straight in 2007 and 2008, and Brossart winning the 2009 rendition. I know for sure that at least one of these (97-09) was played at the high school.

We are presently 8-3 in our last eleven games played between the two teams.

Ironically, in 1997/98, 1998/99, and 2008/09 the team that lost the Crosstown went on to win the district by beating the other.

I expect a packed house tomorrow night. The advance student tickets at CCHS sold out in one day. I will plan to get there early to find a spot that is triplet friendly :thumb:
