Why are They Crying

I'll guess you'll be waiting as long as I have been to find out where the jobs are that the upper class have been creating while enjoying the lower taxes of the tax cuts...the ones that will disappear if they expire.
Knowing what little I do about you and your employment situation, I find this post to be a real head scratcher for me. How is it remotely possible that you would have your primary employment if it weren't for "upper class" patrons to fuel it? I'm not trying to be a smartass... I'm genuinely interested to hear your view.
I have a hard time believing the info on the links you provided since it is a fact that under Bush there was a net increase in jobs. The charts on your links show no year in which there was a increase in jobs from 2000-2008. I will research it some more and get back on this one.

That said, you say the rich can continue to do what they do. What is that? Do they not have just as much right to keep their money as you and I? Just because they have more of it shouldn't mean we take it. I didn't earn that money and neither did you. What does everyone feel the rich need to be soaked? Will taking thier money create jobs?

I don't have a problem if they keep their money. But I do have a problem with them holding the rest of the country hostage while they get their way, then NOT creating jobs. They're not hiring now, and I do not see any forecasts that show that they'll hire in the next 2 years if they get the extension. So...they'll be doing exactly what they do.

What should happen if they are allowed to keep there money is that that money should get restless since putting in a bank account will early almost nothing. That restless excess cash is called Capital. Managers of the capital should go looking for how to earn more money than they can earn in interest and they should invest in new markets, expanded markets and new innovation. Rich people don't hoard money and stuff it in a vault - it becomes CAPITAL to then use toward the round of free enterprise.

But you are right in that big companies are not hiring and likely will not hire soon. Offshoring is now in strong favor. The entire IT and technical industry has been savaged. And continues to be and will continue to be. Consultants such as McKinsey, Accenture and others are making their money by telling companies how to ship all back off jobs offshore. When large companies start this it is usually under some less evil name - "Cost take out" or CTO, Value Project, etc. They say they have a great new 'process'. The fact is they replace bodies 1 for 1 for an offshore resource at half or more the fully burdened cost. They pair up with the CFO who springs on the CEO who then must act on it or at least take it to the board. Since the consultants have people on the boards in their pockets the proposal usually goes through. In months AR is moved, AP is moved, procurement is moved, IT is moved. This is how profits are high even though sales are flat.

Corporate America is in the process of gutting its own mid-section. I do believe in free markets, I do believe in raw capitalism. But 'Globalized' US based publicly held companies are shirking their fiduciary responsibility to the country. At some point you have ask - 'should we do this?', not just 'can we do this?'

I completely understand the bolded. But it's the rest of your post that I also agree with, but feel is not being communicated by the companies/individuals/etc who are lobbying for the extensions based upon their assertion that they create the jobs. THAT's my beef. I really could care less anymore who gets taxed what. I just want the lies and dancing around to stop.

So frankly (in a nutshell), if those who make over $200K want to keep every red cent, more power to them. Just don't try to sell me on the idea by promising something you have no intention of delivering.

I have faith that the small independent business owners want to deliver. They are the bulk of the 250K to $1M a year earners. And they are were there is the most hope for new jobs. But with higher taxes, but almost worst - uncertain taxes - they can not plan for the future. They have been in limbo for most of 2010. They are also getting squeezed by the mega-corps, the multi-national corporations. The real risk is if these people just hang it and say - screw it. They are the creative ones, they are the risk takers who put venture capital down with no guaranteed return of growth or even the capital itself. But if they have to live off of they do not need the governments hassles of high taxes and awful over-regulation at one end and global monopolistic corporations challenging them at the other end. The real risk is the lack new businesses lead by independent, private individuals and small groups.

The tax system needs to be changed, what we currently have no longer works.

How are they holding the country hostage?
