December 7, 201015 yr Jason Werth isn't worth half of the money he is going to get paid. Unbelievable he is going to get paid that much.
December 7, 201015 yr Author jcrasnick Brandon Webb's reps are meeting with the Cubs this afternoon I'm holding some strong optimism about Webb. Hoping Hendry and Webb's people can make a deal. Few believe Webb can reach his Cy-Young esque abilities again now that he has underwent surgery, but before injury Webb was one of the best in baseball. Zambrano really turned the switch on late last year and if he can come back with that same hunger and (if the Cubs sign Webb) Webb steps in the rotation and has some quality innings then it is looking up for the Chicago staff. Harden worked out good for one season, then last year imploded with the rest of the team. Lilly is no longer there, but Dempster is, you just never know which Ryan Dempster you're going to get. Rothschild leaving also hurts as he was one of the best pitching coaches in baseball. The Cubs have backed themselves in a hole with what changes they can really make with this team. Hopefully this is a move they can get done albeit incentive laden I am sure considering Webbs last couple of years.
December 8, 201015 yr Ken_Rosenthal: Confirmed: Konerko 3 yrs, $37.5M that includes heavy deferrals from 3rd-yr salary. Slight raise from previous $12M salary
December 8, 201015 yr Locking up Dunn and Konerko for multi-years, right around 100 million. Yet the Nats payed all that money to one guy. I was also surprised to read that the White Sox payroll when they won the World Series was around 60 or 70 million, they are now going to be around 120 million this year. This is essentially an "All-In" scenario for the White Sox, they don't win in the next year or two, you will see big time payroll shedding. 1) J. Pierre - LF 2) A. Ramirez - SS 3) A. Rios - CF 4) A. Dunn- DH 5) P. Konerko- 1B 6) C. Quentin - RF 7) G. Beckham- C 8) A. pierzynski - SS 9) B. Morel - 3B I believe that would be the order, not too shabby.

The South Siders have a nice looking lineup, their achiles heel though is getting consistent pitching from their rotation. Bullpens not bad, but that rotation leaves a lot to be desired. Talented in spots, but zero consistency. IMO thats been the biggest holdup for them.
December 9, 201015 yr Ken_Rosenthal Still some guaranteed language to be worked out. And Crawford must pass physical. But deal with #RedSox is that close to being done. #MLB
December 9, 201015 yr Ken_Rosenthal Crawford highest-paid OF in baseball history - $20.2M per season. Ninth biggest contract of all-time. #RedSox #MLB Ken_Rosenthal Crawford deal $52M more than next-highest paid player who never hit 20 homers in a season - Ichiro. #RedSox #MLB These contracts are just getting absurd.
