Improved Comet squad takes on the Pirates of Belfry who many would say are just a bit down by their standards. Thoughts?

I think Belfry is a little down and West Carter is better than normal, but this game is still at Pond Creek. Belfry does not drop many games at home and I don't see this one being any diffrent. I am going to say Belfry wins.

Belfry: 35

West Carter: 21

My questions about Belfry are:

-How big are they?

-What kind of skill players do they have?

WC is small, but they gang tackle on defense and make big plays when they have the ball, Danny Cline is extremely dangerous if he gets to the 2nd level. A big team that could wear them down defensively, and still have the speed to make them drive the field offensively would be their worst possible matchup IMO. What does Belfry have?

Belfry has Phillip Haywood...........

Belfry is a bigger AAA football team, but not huge. They have good team speed and a fullback that is quick and runs very hard. He is tough to bring down and has speed to rip off big runs. Belfry has some kids who can really move in open field and will run the football 80-85% of the time. The 2010 Pirates are like almost every other Haywood coached team they are not going to beat themselves.

Haywood is a great one, and is an advantage they have on most teams. :thumb:

I will say this however, if Belfry prepares for West the way they did 2 or 3 years ago I don't see how they will win. Some Belfry fans I talked to during that game said they did not gameplan alot for WC and only prepared for Russell and to be honest it showed. The game was alot closer than it should have been. This is a better WC team, and it seems like not as good of a Belfry team (though they are still really, really good no doubt). Belfry is no doubt the favorite, but if they do not take WC seriously they will be in some trouble.

I would be shocked this time around if Haywood is not ready for West Carter because this Comets team is good. That being said I am not sure if the Belfry players will be ready for West Carter. The kind of speed and athleticism that the Comets bring to the table is hard to prepare for in practice with scout team players. The Comets are capable of beating any team in the region with their big play capablity. Belfry will have to try and contain the big plays if they want to win this game. Should be a good 1st round match up IMO.

I feel that West Carter has better skill than Belfry and Belfry having better Line play. So I think this one is a toss up I could see it going either way by a lot or a little. But if Belfry is not ready for the Comets like a few years back could be an upset at pound creek!

I would love to see West Carter win this one but I just don't think it will happen.

Belfry by a couple of td's.

Nope, just saw it. Look for a 606-316- area code number around before gametime. That should be me.
